Reticulum is receiving attention from Hackaday. The article examines The Tech Prepper’s “post-internet network”: using Reticulum over LoRa and HF when ordinary Internet and cellular infrastructure are unavailable.
The HF demo also highlights a key constraint: Reticulum’s encryption generally cannot be transmitted on amateur-radio bands under current rules.

I seem to be seeing that the #ip #ipv4 addresses of some legit #reticulum #nodes are being included in some of the lists used by #suricata #IDS #intrustiondetectionsystem to #blacklist IP addresses, and so they might well end up blocked by your #firewall or #IPS #intrusionprotectionsystem
in particular e.g. database #CINS might be flagging mesh nodes
Please take steps for port 4242
#port4242 normally used by #rns #reticulum to not let bad data spoil the #mesh #nomadnet #meshchat #meshchatx -

#Reticulum version 1.3.7 is out, so I asked #Codex to compare the 1.3.7 Python tree (obtained from Mark's source code) against my protocol Specification previously extracted from the Reticulum Network Stack version 1.3.5.
Result: no apparent wire-level protocol break. The main changes are operational/interface-discovery related, plus verifier maintenance.
https://salemdata.net/johnpress/?p=1068 for Codex assessment.

Reticulum has no separate protocol spec; the Python implementation is effectively the reference. But GitHub, PyPI, and RNS-distributed releases may not show the same version.
I documented how I fetched the signed 1.3.7 release over Reticulum itself using rngit, including signer validation and artifacts retrieved.

Seems that to share and/or use a #reticulum #rngit #git #repository immediately as similarly as possible to #Codeberg / #GitHub (know of it, find it, read it, obtain it) needs 3 prerequisites:
1) know of the repository somehow e.g. from a #nomadnet #page / #webpage / tip
2) running reticulum #rns >= 1.3.4
3) means to read nomadnet #pages (#Nomadnet , #MeshchatX .. )
& 3 pieces of info:
4) #repo address
5) repo nomadnet #URL / page address
6) #interface settings that give a sure route to 4.&5 1/3 -

Excerpt from Reticulum workshop at Lodis. Here as a part of a mesh of around 10-15 devices, these 5 devices are interconnected in the mesh between two differently configured LoRa interfaces with frequencies 876 and 433, a default interface, TCP and WiFi. A hardware-agnostic mesh networking stack with protocols that needs more circulation and deployment 💞

This says https://rns.recipes/forum/general/re-discontinuing-the-github-mirror #reticulum code is to be taken off #github or IP based repos. I was not able to join the discussion - was locked. Just wanted to say that github is the reference location for code (a shame, but still fact), and that I am using #radicle as a robust meshed git repo system & #codeberg so no sheep. As mirror repo codeberg/github are ok locations just to get it out & get bootstrapped. To only get the #RNS code over #rngit reticulum itself seem not beginner-friendly.

Excited to try this out: https://github.com/roogle-dev/reticulum-phantom
> Decentralized, end-to-end encrypted P2P file sharing over the Reticulum mesh network. The first torrent-like application built natively on Reticulum.
Update: I was informed this was vibe coded and finally got around to reading more into it. I can't recommend this. Please see this link for more info: https://github.com/roogle-dev/reticulum-phantom/issues/3#issuecomment-4285042507

First in a series I like to call How The F Does This Work aka Getting To Know Columba. I have the app installed on a Pixel phone running GrapheneOS. Trying to allow "display over apps" but it won't. Any ideas? #reticulum #rns #meshradio

Tried sorting my transport nodes out. Still having problems. In the mean time I flashed Ratspeak software to Cardputer ADV and it works flawlessly. I have Pyxis on the T-Deck. I tried reflashing Ratdeck to the T-Deck but still having problems. The only thing I can think of is if the preamble is set properly. Just doesn’t seem to be recievable. #ratspeak #pyxis #reticulum #rns #lora

Trying to do LXST calls using Pyxis. Still a bit broken atm. I’m not really bothered about voice calls over LoRa but it’s interesting. #LoRa #Reticulum #RNS #MeshRadio #Meshcore #Meshtastic

@daan yes, I tried #RNode and #LoRa. But only indoor test for short range. I tested serial and WiFi connection between computer with #RNS and RNode and Bluetooth connection between smartphone and another RNode. All three worked. And yes, with very recent RNS and RNode firmware it is possible to connect LoRa device with computer also over WiFi

Really sad to hear that the founder of Reticulum is taking a back seat on the project. I understand the need to look after one's health and all I have to say is thank you for the time and effort you have taken to build this wonderful protocol. Up to us to build on it now. #39c3 #Reticulum #RNS #EncryptedComms https://unsigned.io/articles/2025_12_28_Carrier_Switch.html

Got a new toy to add to my Reticulum comms project. Bought a Motorola DP3441e to use as a modem that I am going to try and hook up to Sideband. If I can get it working alongside the RNode that would be pretty cool. A step closer to totally encrypted mobile comms… #RNS #Reticulum #Motorola
