hey everyone, the above is my LXMF address, for anyone who knows how to use reticulum.
i have set up a backbone server node on SKSLAN hardware here in boorloo/perth.
if you are interested, please send me a message to let me know that my setup is working.

Ok I need testers 😄 I have the first version for #reticulum #nomadnet browser with inline image rending in the terminal. Please download from the repo and use the provided address in the Readme for testing. Readme also shows how you can add image link (webp format supported only at this stage) to your pages too. https://github.com/varna9000/Domat

@npub1mts2l7rsvgpqxdc8sk39e50fpntw0p7eamq8pp3kek5h6k7qemzq83ueyt ok, I did some testing, it seems iterm2 supports Kitty graphics protocol, which settles it as the most supported one by modern terminals. I’ll leave Sixel as a fall back and will build a proof of concept #nomadnet browser which would try to detect the terminal capabilities and use what’s available. Things looking promising. 😄

I’m experimenting today with inline image rendering in #nomadnet micron pages. This is entirely rendered in the terminal. I personally think this is a very good feature to add to micron. In fact it doesn’t use special tag, just adds attributes to the file link tag. In the background it uses the decades old #Sixel protocol to render the image in the terminal. Most of the modern terminals support it. I personally don’t want #reticulum to look like 80s so images in nomadnet is a must.

i think i figured nomadnet out
i connected to the hispagatos.org chat room
data is... flowing??

Installed nomadnet last night, I can see nodes on the network but I am getting a weird repeated warning in the logs.
What are other people's reticulum and nomadnet setups?
I _think_ I have set up my interface properly, but I cannot be sure.

spun up a new container, currently looking at installing a nomadnet node

Finally I made the long planned video for micropython #reticulum t-deck firmware, showcasing:
- #Nomadnet browser
- #rnsh client shellhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDcf-duqmv4
Here’s the link to the firmware bin file: https://github.com/varna9000/reticulum-tdeck/releases

I don't know if I shared this before, but this is a pretty good guide to surfing and publishing on the Reticulum network.
Aside from the off-grid aspects of it, the underlying infrastructure (low bitrate, tolerance for high latencies) is quite interesting for the future.

#hackers He añadido la función de emojis a #RRChat para #reticulum #nomadnet #rrc (como IRC pero sobre el chat de Reticulum) https://sr.ht/~rek2/RRChat/

#hackers I added emojis feature to #RRChat for #reticulum #nomadnet #rrc (like IRC but over Reticulum chat) https://sr.ht/~rek2/RRChat/

I need some #reticulum friends.
I’m building some cool stuff on #nomadnet. Unifying http reticulum.
Already converting my #gotosocial posts (like this one) to a reticulum feed. Already converting my ghost #blog posts to a reticulum page. Already create super cool/#creepy #paranormal pages I’m calling “night frequency”
Get it? Reticulum can be broadcast on lora. #Lora is a band of frequencies on the EM spectrum that…what ever. Explaining my word play makes it worse
My next ideas are to bridge my #rss into #micron/reticulum. Get short and sweet updates from normal #http rss feeds righ in reticulum. The feed would have #links to view the full http page as well
Maybe #solar #servers? Like everything is hosted in SBCs that are powered with just the sun?
Maybe an auto file sharing thing that pushes larger files (like podcasts, pictures, or videos) to your rnode for you to view and share later? (Kinda silly, but you literally can’t stream audio in real time with lora. Like it’s physically impossible. BUTTTT you can host a large file on your rserver and have it download over Lora. Weird because we already have instant audio radio (AM/FM), but Lora is not…data dense (?) enough for it
Anyway, Idk.
This is new. I’m even newer at this.
Given the current political environment, I think it’s in our best interest to start building parallel network shit like this.
It’s the new frontier. Let’s see what we can do before it gets the internet 2.0 treatment! -
Hello #hackers after some hard work, happy to present a #micron #reticulum #nomadnet nodes #terminal TUI browser fully on #rust with #vim key
#Micron-Navigator Download https://git.sr.ht/~rek2/Micron-Navigator
is not feature complete so I have not upload to crates.io until that.

Ohjaj #nomadnet is nu versie 1.2.8.

#Hackers we now have RRC(IRC) running on #Reticulum, if you want
to join us read the following docs so you can configure your client. The Chat runs on #rrc a standalone hub server running on Reticulum,
you can connect your client (#nomadnet for example in the Channels section).More info on RRC:

I seem to be seeing that the #ip #ipv4 addresses of some legit #reticulum #nodes are being included in some of the lists used by #suricata #IDS #intrustiondetectionsystem to #blacklist IP addresses, and so they might well end up blocked by your #firewall or #IPS #intrusionprotectionsystem
in particular e.g. database #CINS might be flagging mesh nodes
Please take steps for port 4242
#port4242 normally used by #rns #reticulum to not let bad data spoil the #mesh #nomadnet #meshchat #meshchatx -
I've made a simple #nomadnet browser in #micropython #reticulum for t-deck. The video shows loading and browsing simple micron page in Bulgarian. It’s not using utf-8 but rather ASCII + Cyrillic to save memory and complexity of integrating truetype fonts. I’ve made also a refactor to t-deck repo, now micropython-reticulum part is synced to upstream and is linked as submodule to the t-deck specific repo.

#DNSCryptProxy2
#nixos #flake #part example (yes, made with Claude Code) made to see how many hoops are needed to be jumped through to not even get remotely close to the privacy that #reticulum provides over #nomadnet
Reticulum is remarkable as compared with the info leaky internet infrastructure we use daily. https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-proxy/discussions/3246 -
see post above:
1) repo of a #nixos #flake with #reticulum tools
2) install reticulum >= 1.3.4 run it with e.g. rnsd -v
3) install #Nomadnet / #meshchatx

Seems that to share and/or use a #reticulum #rngit #git #repository immediately as similarly as possible to #Codeberg / #GitHub (know of it, find it, read it, obtain it) needs 3 prerequisites:
1) know of the repository somehow e.g. from a #nomadnet #page / #webpage / tip
2) running reticulum #rns >= 1.3.4
3) means to read nomadnet #pages (#Nomadnet , #MeshchatX .. )
& 3 pieces of info:
4) #repo address
5) repo nomadnet #URL / page address
6) #interface settings that give a sure route to 4.&5 1/3 -
@nixCraft Seems website are trying to block bots my forcing us to register or pay to read them. I am slowly making a mastodon block list or filter that hides posts which cite articles from website that require registration or payment. Ironically it seems that I am just blocking the whole internet... this is not the way it was supposed to be. #nomadnet might well offer an escape route temporarily.
