Strike
The phobia of a copperhead strike
is made real by the lunge of a
lawnmower into the brush to shred
the coiling orange and brown with
a screaming whump only to realize
that it was an eastern box turtle
I had set upon.
Once again what I am afraid of
has led me to destroy what I love
and I weep, wondering if I will ever
become one whose perceived fears
are not acted on.
I did not look to see if the
slowmover was dead
but I knew. I could see the
bloody pieces of her
shell scattered across

@MakersHour Frustrating? You mean like the automated filament changer on my #3dprinter which I spent 2 years trying to get it to work and endlessly misbehaves? How do I deal with it? TURTLE TUESDAY
Wow. It has been so hot here that Eastern Box Turtles have been bathing in my shallow upper pond for hours. I have found two doing this.
This is normal behavior but not often seen. It's a reminder of the importance of making water available for wildlife.

#BoxTurtle note: buy the more expensive n20 motors from the guy in the US. It seems Amazon and Triangle Lab ship wrong/crappy ones that can't overcome the torque to turn the printed gears.
