It seems most universities or academic institutes facing a financial crunch turn to limiting expenditure and #VoluntaryRedundancy first, sometimes with voluntary reductions in hours and pay. Have any in #Academia sought to do regressive pay cuts instead (i.e. larger percentage from the top, down to nothing at the bottom)? Why not - is it too complicated legally to impose? #AccademicChatter

Some #professionalNews. Last week I've started a #newJob as #assistantProfessor (tenure track) in #biostatistics at my Alma Mater, the University of #Turin (#UniTo), Department of Clinical and Biological Sciences.

It's been tremendous: meeting new people, joining terrific research projects, and fitting in some old ones.

Looking forward to a lot of years of new and exiting #openScience 🤟

Went to #UKClockClub （ https://www.bioclocks.uk/ ）, it is nice to see the younger generation of trainees engaging with research and networking. The feeling is particularly high for me as I had not attended any meetings for the past 3 yrs due to pandemic and family care demand. The meeting reignited the excitement I first attended as PhD student in 2007. Thank you clock club! and looking forward to meet again. #circadian #sleep #PhD #postdoc #accademicchatter

Shout out to my fellow biologist/geneticist/neuroscientist, do you have notes and write your papers like this?

I don't and I hardly take notes any more for anything...I laid the data in front of me and used them as triggers to my memories to related literatures....this part is not very methodic..if I had notes for my thoughts, it could speed up the process better..
