  3. Starting a faculty position is an exceptionally stressful time. And while much revolves around getting your research started, it is important to take teaching seriously.

Here are 5 general tips. 🧪

  4. Some #professionalNews. Last week I've started a #newJob as #assistantProfessor (tenure track) in #biostatistics at my Alma Mater, the University of #Turin (#UniTo), Department of Clinical and Biological Sciences.

It's been tremendous: meeting new people, joining terrific research projects, and fitting in some old ones.

Looking forward to a lot of years of new and exiting #openScience 🤟

  5. Alright I’m (reluctantly) back and trying out this app.

Might as well start on a high note: the lab has been awarded our first big NSF. Our BRC-BIO grant will support our work using #astrangia to study how variation in multi-partner symbioses affects host immunity. This project also supports undergraduate research experiences for students at TXST and RWU (w/ awesome co-PI Koty Sharp). We’re pretty pumped!

  6. Interesting paper from Tatjana Trcek lab.
She & her team looked at fly #GermGranules nucleation and, well... the title says it all:

"Proteins rather than mRNAs regulate nucleation and persistence of Oskar germ granules in Drosophila "

    #mRNA #mRNALocalization #Drosophila #LLPS

It is also her 1st paper as #NewPI so congrats are in order.

  7. #NewPI looking for advice on writting#StephenKatzR01. Anyone know a #ESI who has successfully obtained #funding through this mechanism #nci #momademic #nih ? #grantwritting thank you!

  8. Wanna see a proud #newPI?
Then come to the „evolution approaches“ sessions today! My team members Malina Palmer and Avril Weinbach will present their work on #ecoevo #feedback and #mutualism!

  9. My #Introduction: I'm Beth, a #NewPI and Assistant Professor of #Genetics at Mount Royal University in Calgary. I'm interested in #Bioinformatics, #Genomics, #CellBiology, #Microbiology, #eDNA, #MolecularEcology, #ComparativeGenomics, the #AthabascaOilSands and #Protists. Outside of work, I divide my time between video games, crafting, and being the least outdoorsy person within driving distance of the Canadian Rockies.

  10. #introduction:
    I am a Lecturer and #NewPI at the #UniversityOfManchester #UoM
I am interested in how cellular interactions with the tumour microenvironment control fundamental aspects of cancer cell behaviour, including regulation of gene expression.
    In @thebyronlab, we combine #proteomics, #sequencing, #bioinformatics, functional #CellBiology, super-resolution #imaging and #cancer models, to discover new properties of cancer #CellAdhesion #networks.

  11. Time for a #introduction post for #ScienceMastodon ! I am an ecological and evolutionary #immunologist interested in understanding how symbiotic relationships shape immunity and vice versa. Most of the time I work with cnidarian systems (#corals ), but I also dabble some in fish.

I am a #newPI at Texas State University, which is a #HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution). I am passionate about creating equitable and inclusive research opportunities for our diverse academic community!
