Hey gente #hola aquí un #tip Cuando hacemos un posteo del tipo público (con el 🌍🌎🌏🌐) pero que socialmente va dirigido a grupos o conjunto de humanes de un lugar geográfico específico, coloquemos el lugar o si en su caso va a todes en general,
recordemos que en #fediverso #fedi #fediverse hay personas de todo el #mundo y luego resulta confuso cuando ese post principal habla de un sitio tiene la intención de que sea para ese sitio pero no dice cual, en automático se hace céntrico y excluyente hacia las demás #vivencias 👀
Acá no hay algoritmos de seguiento regional y eso creo que nos enseña a #convivir y a hacernos conscientes de la existencia de los demás y de donde estamos parades nosotres, es #incluyente ✨
Además tenemos otras herramientas de accesibilodad como la agrupación por instancias, en algunas la posibilidad de publicaciones locales, solo seguidores, y los hastags que por ejemplo se puede colocar un #región también si son posteos abiertos al público. 🕸️

If you want to use this feature, make sure that you are on a #Mastodon instance that updates fairly regularly.
My previous instance, for example, was stuck on 4.2, and the admin made clear that he had no interest in putting in the effort to maintain it further.
You can see your current version on the bottom of the web page. If the version is too old, you might consider migrating to a new instance. Sure, your old posts will remain on your old instance - but your connections and bookmarks will move with you.

Here's something really useful I've found.
One of the great things about the Fediverse is being able to follow hashtags.
But.
If someone puts up a post using that hashtag, and no-one on your instance follows that person or anyone who shares it, it won't appear in your feed.
This is particularly common if you're on a small or single-user instance.
Here's the solution.
First, follow @_followback
It will follow you back.
And then tags.pub bot then reshare all of your posts that use hashtags.
So if you do a post with the hashtag #Fediverse, then @fediverse will share your post.
Here's where the magic happens.
The tags.pub bot will do the same thing to everyone else who follows that followback account.
So if you follow @fediverse, then you'll get a feed of everyone who uses #Fediverse on the Fediverse.
And you'll see their posts even if no-one on your instance follows them.
And it works for all hashtags.
Just put the name of the hashtag, followed by @tags.pub
So @tech follows all posts using #tech, for example.
Or @news follows all posts using #news

I don't see that link anywhere nowadays. Don't know if it happened when I changed instance from m/social to writing.exchange. Don't think so, but I mention that in case it makes sense to anyone who knows more than I do about this stuff. So, please can anyone help me get those links back? Thanks.

if you go to your Notifications tab and click the arrows icon at the top right you can expand options and disable notifications for boosts and likes
this way you can stop staring at your own posts with that fish-looking face while you read them over and over every time someone new boosts or favorites them...
you will be saving a lot of time, congratulations 🎉

Before you join an instance, always look at its about page (https://mastodon.art/about).
If you unfold the "Moderated servers" list and an absolutely massive blocklist shows up (like on dot art) that means that this server is suffering from extremely toxic censorship and you should not join it! On a typical instance this list is usually only 10 to 20 instances at most.
Also if you can't see the "Moderated servers" list, that means that the admins have hidden it on purpose. I suggest do not join an instance without this type of moderation transparency either! -

A tip for those who might not know (or might not know how): You can curate your feed with #filters Filters hide posts that include filtered words. If you find posts about certain topics stressful or annoying, you can easily avoid them by filtering keywords that are usually found only in posts on those topics. Although some Mastodon clients don't let you make filters within the app, you can always make filters on the web interface. #FediTip 1/2

Excellent #Feditip here, both on the removal of inactive followers, and the warning about "remove all followers from selected domains".
That second is surely a useful function to have, but it needs to be NOT something you can accidentally do.

The thing about relying on content warnings to protect yourself is that it requires the cooperation and consensus of everyone in the Fediverse. More effective and realistic is setting up filters. I have a list of filtered words, hashtags, and phrases for things I don't want to see, and it keeps those things off my timeline regardless of other people's choices.

Mi pc (portátil windows 10) genera conflictos de IP. Intenté, varias veces, asignarle una IP estática desde el router pero no parece funcionar y se desconecta y/o desconecta otros equipos. ¿Qué puede hacer? #fediAyuda #redes #feditipsEs
