  1. One #Caturday, Marjon contemplated life in Malala’s grey cat head basket. Is this where he wanted to be at this age? What is left to do? What is the meaning behind it all? What was that sound he just heard? Why does Malala get to play with that toy?

    Thanks to my Mom for the appropriately-colored cat baskets.

  2. Before my current cats, there was Neo. For this #Throwback #Caturday, I remember 16 years with my second pet after moving out of my parents’ place. Neo was a black domestic shorthair cat who was my best bud. Neo was extremely attentive, friendly, playful, and loving. I miss him a lot.

  3. Before my current cats, there was Phoebe. For this #Throwback #Caturday, I remember 16 years with my first pet after moving out of my parents’ place. Phoebe was a grey and white domestic shorthair who ruled over her home with an iron fist. She scratched me once: when I brought home another cat, Neo (to be featured next week). I really miss Phoebe.

  4. Thanks to those who helped with my #DomainRegistrar search. I wanted to act before #GoogleDomains transferred my #Domains to #Squarespace.

    After a review of suggested companies’ histories, websites, and pricing, I’ve started transferring my domains to #Porkbun. #Google has made it fast to transfer domains out of Google Domains. The transfer was done in an hour, unlike the 7+ days that register.com put me through in 2021.

  5. #Twitter just #shadowbanned my PhD advisor Michael L. Nelson. He was covering how the wife of the US Speaker of the House had an anti-#LBTQ+ website and just took it down, but it’s still in #webarchives. Due to the #shadowban, we can view the tweets by URL, but cannot view the whole thread. He’s asked us to #retweet him in hopes of: (1) getting the word out about the shadowban, and (2) overcoming the shadowban (unlikely).

  6. One #Caturday Malala and Marjon joined forces to watch another cat outside. I imagine that they had different goals in mind. Marjon wants to discover a new friend. Malala wants to study and eliminate threats to her regime.

    The authors trained a classifier to classify open-access data and software (OADS) URLs from research papers as dataset or code. Archivists can then take these URLs and preserve the referenced datasets and code for reproducibility.

  14. Yesterday at #TPDL2023 Gianmaria Silvello presented“How to Cite a Web Ranking and Make it #FAIR

    Researchers often need to cite #SearchEngine results. Unfortunately, search engines change their algorithms and their index all the time. Alessandro Lotta and Gianmaria Silvello presented a #prototype that captures this ranking in a human- and machine-readable #format and posts it to #Zenodo for citing with a #DOI.

  18. Zadar, Croatia is pretty. The #TPDL2023 conference starts later today. I cannot wait.

    (I also have jet lag, but I’m fighting through it.)

  19. @kentborg @Dianora (I’m on a plane & the WiFi is spotty.)

    I’m going to #TPDL2023 and will not live-tweet it like past conferences. I’ll post to #Mastodon and #Bluesky, but not #Twitter.

    But I ask myself, why didn’t I quit when #Musk:
    * made using the word #cisgender grounds for suspension?
    * was promoting #antivaxx, #antisemitism, #racism, #sexism & hurting #BlackTwitter?
    * suspended #journalists?

    I stayed for the people who stayed. I stayed to help promote & support them.

  20. I wonder how many will pay. I'm not being facetious. At this point, I'm not sure enough have left #Twitter to make a dent in its cultural and sociopolitical impact and I'm concerned that competing platforms (e.g., #Mastodon, #Bluesky, #Threads) are losing each #TwitterMigrant back to #BirdSite.

    Per Variety:"Elon Musk Suggests He Will Charge All X/Twitter Users a Fee to Be on the Platform”

    Edit: since I posted, Bluesky/Threads are trending on Twitter.

  21. @harmonicarichard Also, Google seems to have a completely different response for “chief twit”, and links the search query to anyone but Leo Laporte.
