Second, as far as I can tell, there is no integration with #Zenodo and it is thus not possible to archive a repo and get a DOI. This is required in scientific research.

And another post regarding the #Zenodo #digipres community...had a great chat with Chelle Sanders, the current program manager of the Software Preservation Network (SPN) yesterday. As SPN is currently in its controlled sunsetting phase (to conclude dec 31st 2026), we are exploring the possibility of collecting as many of their publications as possible & adding them to the Zenodo digipres community to make sure there's a central home for SPN's important legacy! Fingers crossed it'll all work out.

Cool, over 18 years ago I worked as a developer/maintainer of a hydrological simulation model at the European Commission. This is still in active development, and is used for European-level flood forecasting.
Today the current developers (who are not on Fedi AFAIAA ) added the latest source code to #Zenodo, and added #ORCID tags of previous and current contributors, so it's now part of my ORCID profile:

Ive given up on journal publishing due to the commodified AI partnerships that publishing houses have now entered into (no concern for author IP). Im now going to write more serious articles published on my blog, plus PDF format on #Zenodo. Ive uploaded a few past posts and theyve already been downloaded. This formalises the work with a citation doi, not just a blog url. It preserves the work in a significant knowledge database.
