  5. Lilbits: 8 years of updates for (some) Android phones, Dasung’s 60 Hz E Ink display is going global, and more

A handful of Android smartphone makers have committed to offering major OS and security updates for at least seven years after the launch of a new phone. Soon we could see phones with up to eight years of guaranteed updates.

Qualcomm has announced it’s partnered with Google to begin supporting flagship and upper mid-range processors for that long by delivering OS, kernel, and security […]

  6. Realized the other day that I am totally comfortable now with my #System76 #LaunchHeavy keyboard. Feels good, works well, no mechanical issues.

I haven't had any more trouble on boot (but I also don't plug an additional keyboard in at boot any more either). Although I ended up not needing it, System76 support was excellent.

    Wants:

    * ability to set keys and shift+keys individually, not just as a set

    * System76 to sell sets of additional keycaps (or individual ones).

    @system76

  7. Update on #System76 #LaunchHeavy #MechanicalKeyboard because I am procrastinating right now:

Still using it as my day-to-day main keyboard. I've gotten used to not having the extra keys on the left (that my #Kinesis has) and thus having to use Super+F[1-8] to change desktops.

Layout reverts to layer 1, QWERTY at reboot, which is annoying, but I got used to it.

I'm liking having the numpad, but lack of indicator has got me a few times after rebooting.

  8. @Brandon

#System76 makes great (if expensive) #Linux -first computers. They introduced a fully-open, made-in-USA, small keyboard called the #Launch a couple of years ago.

They just recently (like 2 or 3 weeks ago?) released the "larger" version, called the #LaunchHeavy. Again, expensive, but imho a person could pass it on to their grandchildren. Also beat off intruders with it.

Still getting used to it, but can see it as my day-to-day #MechanicalKeyboard.

  9. My #System76 #LaunchHeavy #keyboard arrived!

Going to play with it now. Will definitely post a comparison with my current favorite, the #Kinesis Gaming keyboard.

  10. System76 Launch Heavy is an open source, configurable full-sized keyboard (that joins the Launch and Launch Lite). This model has a number pad and a $299 price tag.

  11. ::: System76 developers have managed to DISABLE Intel ME? (A backdoor) :popos:

It is recently claimed that System76's Coreboot open firmware manages now to disable Intel ME for Raptor Lake processor.

Are they on to something bigger towards the realm away from Intel's "Big Brother" practices?

This could be huge in near future! What do YOU think?

  18. @system76 Meerkat product is a curated version of an Intel NUC that offered for desktop and embedded system host applications. #Roon #RoonROCK is a Linux build that provides a turnkey Roon Core system in a minimal headless Linux environment. The kernel, programs, drivers, etc are tuned for headless Roon. This Roon deployment is easily the fastest and most stable of those I have attempted.

Roon self-installs updates and patches to the core and endpoints. No fuss.
