(#BoxingDay if you’re British 😏).I wonder if anyone still goes door-to-door with the Wren? Decades ago, our house in Connemara had a visit by a pack of boisterous wren-boys.
I regret not being able to see what they had in their cage. Was it an effigy? A real bird? Was it dead? 🤔
The visit carried a hint of threat that has been lost in modern trick-or-treating and caroling. They got their “penny for the Wren”, that’s for sure.😁

Me and the crew hauled out our old costumes these last two weekends, to sang our old #wassailing songs, first at Greenlake, and then going door-to-door.
The “new normal” means singing from out on the sidewalk, but we did go in to the very last house. The couple there used to schedule their Christmas party around our visits, so it felt like the right exception to make.🎅🏻🧑🏻🎄
