According to MyDramaList this is _not_ an Ed Guo drama. I'm... a bit shocked, but it is true that C-drama land often produces visually stunning pieces, so I shouldn't be surprised. So far, and I'm only 4+ minutes in, I've seen so many stunning props and awesome costumes my brain screeching 😅. I'll return tomorrow, when I can start earlier to make time for long comments.

Debating going in to work on the weekend to spread out a fabric project all over the floor. I have more floor space at my office than home, and this fabric is 60 inches wide and 3 years long. I just need to place my pattern pieces so I know how to cut it. I can already tell I got at least half a yard too much, which is a blessing and a slightly expensive curse.

Context: I'm working on a costume for my partner, basically a loose long asymmetric vest. I'm following a kurta pattern, just not adding the sleeves. #Sewing #costuming #larp

Qian Lin* as a character is not whole. He's looking for an important part of his history and thus himself (iykyk - I'd spoil if I tell you exactly what). This reflects in his clothes that are askew, mismatched, and open in strange ways. Here we only see a small part of him, and it's still noticeable. Even his necklace is (visually) imbalanced.

The costumes of A Moment But Forever have some odd wonkinesses*, and they are cheaper than usual. Even Word of Honor, that bartered favours to get the production together, had better clothes. But I admire the glee in witch the designer(s) let lose, especially on the Demon Clan, it's like 'I'll take everything fun that I can afford and slap it on!'. Also; please let that gold necklace be a plot point!

Good C-dramas, for some reason, often feature a male character accidentally dressed up in wedding dress. Note that they still follow the character design rules: they have individual colours, different hair styles, and different sillouettes. Even if demon boy* was the same length as the others you could still distinguish the three of them if you only saw their shadows.

Lady Wu Siyue often wears patterns that _feels_ very modern, like the wave print on her vest here, but I would'nt bet my hat that it is. Usually when I do I stumble over documentation that proves the pattern to be the oldest and most authentic one in the production. Unfortunately the Tiffany problem doesn't go away when you exchange Western fantasy for wuxia

Note the medallions on his shirt. The historically correct way to weave such a pattern is to put them evenly spaced horisontally and vertically. His medallions are overlapping and in disarray, and so far he's been the _only_ character with this exeption.

Also: this production was _loaded_! That's not printed, that's an actual brocade!

I have fabric and foam for a costume/cosplay project, I've got a sort of plan for a Korok costume. But life is life-ing (in a super exciting but busy-making way) and now I actually don't think this will come together in time for this Halloween. Maybe for next year's comicon instead 🤔
