PS Explaining this to my white teenage son involved explaining the ways in which Black women were treated by slavers, how white beauty standards continues to perpetuate all that, and how that’s played out in sport (see the mistreatment of Caster Semenya & intersex & trans athletes) and politics.

What I take away from the #RussellBrand investigation & exposé is just how many people have to be COMPLICIT for this to go on for so very long.
Ever notice how many white men benefit from #Patriarchy and #Racism? Not just the few who are caught engaged in violence, but all those others who profit from it too much to bother dismantling its structures and institutions.

The price for artistry and entertainment shouldn’t be this high.

@futurebird I need to get this off my chest. When he was young, my husband looked quite a bit like #GeddyLee. Now that they’re both older, he still looks like Geddy. I didn’t know what #rushband looked like until recently and, when I saw pics, I was gobsmacked.

Just watched #CloseToMe (2021), starring Connie Nielsen & #ChristopherEccleston. It was a good & very disturbing, amnesia story.
Eps 1-4 focus on what Jo remembers & thinks. Ep 5 switches over to Rob’s POV. Then the last ep is Jo’s again.
By then, I no longer trusted her, which I don’t think was what the director intended. Wonder if I’m alone in favoring Rob. The series upended my usual tendency to say #BelieveWomen.
Eccleston, btw, is lovely in it. (And that’s not why I liked Rob… I think.) -

The Bat (1959, directed by Crane Wilbur) is a #Gothic #WhoDunnit that’s better (and less campy) than you might think.
#AgnesMoorehead plays a writer of murder mysteries & May well be the original #FuckAroundAndFindOut. Really, all the women are pretty cool in this.
And #VincentPrice as the town doctor is all charm and elegance, even (and especially) when discussing murder.
Included with Prime & MGM+ (but worth the rental).

#WouldYouBelieve… I Was Today Year’s Old when I learned that comic actor #DonAdams (#GetSmart 1965–‘70, ‘95) was ALSO #InspectorGadget (1983-‘99).
I watched both shows as a kid and thought the resemblance was a coincidence.
Oh, and before all that, from 1963-‘66, Adams was Tennessee Tuxedo!

Just came from seeing #TheRoseTattoo at #TheShakespeareTheatreOfNJ and loved it! Antoinette Lavecchia’s Serafina just *pops* with energy and charm. And I laughed—and laughter isn’t something I associate with #TennesseeWilliams. Playing through June 18th.
