The funny thing about Malaysians is that we are so used to thinking our country sucks that when folks say otherwise we think they have an ulterior motive and are trying to butter us up 😆
I've lived a couple of years abroad and have travelled extensively. I have come to realise every country has its problems. We in Malaysia, for one, take for granted our relative peace from conflict and natural disasters.
And no guns is also great 😆

We laughed because we thought Manglish was quite understandable... but when you think of it, things get confusing really quickly when you mix Chinese, English and Malay words together.
#Malaysians are gifted linguists and we take that for granted. Our peolle can speak to Western nations, Indonesia, #China and #India. On top of that, we understand the cultural context of each as we are exposed to all the cultures via direct contact or media.

How #Brexit is affecting the cost of #Books. Books in #Malaysia is gonna get a hella more expensive, or maybe the bookstores - the tiny amount we have left - will be left getting books from the US. It's sad we don't print our own books but I suspect the business isn't as profitable here as #Malaysians are apparently not great English book readers. The Malay book market, however, is thriving.

I can see #Malaysians - govt, organisations, people - going to #Threads when #Twitter goes down. A few reasons:
1. Most already have Facebook & Instagram so they can retain their social networks
2. Most really do not care about #privacy and #data issues
3. Most can't wrap their heads around the FediverseSure, I'd prefer it if they are on #Mastodon but at least essential govt/media communications won't collapse when Twitter does.

What #Kdrama or #Cdrama do you watch to be happy after a sad day?
Feeling extremely sad today and I wondered what to watch to cheer myself up. I realise watching episodes 12-14 of #Destined is probably a bad idea as big sad things happen, so I decided what else should watch but the delightful episodes of 1-8 of Love Never Fails? The #cdrama had a lot of problems but one thing I loved was that those episodes were so delightfully funny and cheerful.
Seriously seeing Liu Xueyi playing a teenage girl would make you giggle.As for KDramas I think the drama that made me laugh was Another Miss Oh - love how delightful it is.

Ep 9 of #Destined was interesting. Gu Jiusi realised he placed his family in jeopardy when he went a tad too far defending Liu Yuru's honour. Commissioner Wang used this misstep to paint the Gu family as bullies who misuse their power, and Gu expertly turns it around by gaining the whole town's sympathy by taking the punishment for assault. Unfortunately....

I am actually excited to watch this! I have to say Bai Jing Ting is quite a natural actor and I'm enjoying his performance, and of course Song Yi is excellent. I've only seen him in Reset, and he was okay there. (Couldn't finish the drama because as a sci-fi fan, Reset's plot was very pedestrian to me.) Love the premise of a spoiled, immature playboy accidentally having to marry a woman who is the perfect wife in every way, except that she hates him.
Currently, I'm at episode 3 and I'm thinking - man, Gu Jiusi is such an immature jerk that needs to be caned, but he has a heart of gold. He is absolutely ignorant about the vulnerable position Liu Yuru is in, a woman who has no status unless she is his wife, so for him to casually talk about divorcing her on their wedding night, and tossing money at her as if it'll solve everything ... man needs to be throttled lol.
Am very interested to see how he matures.

My headache just disappeared in the late afternoon. Just like that. Poof.
I strongly suspect I had a hormonal headache. Lately, I've been having headaches a day or 2 before Auty Flo visits. This was the first time it got so bad.

Updated my thoughts about episodes 8-15 of #KillMeLoveMe.
This is probably the most intense show I've watched this year. Yes, even more than #TheDouble which didn't capture my heart for some reason. I think this is due to the intensity of Liu Xueyi's performance.

At episode 11 of #TheDouble and I am bored. Me and popular dramas still don't mix 🤣.
Part of the reason is this - what drives me as a viewer is good characterisation & growth, more than plot. If a story is mid but has great character development, I am often on board, happily. But Id there's no character development, I struggle.
The Double is definitely a plot driven story with the characters there to push the plot forward. It's harder for me to appreciate it as a result.

Am at the "Jiang Li" goes to school stage of #TheDouble. Putting this on while doing housework and even built an IKEA office chair while watching it 😆
It is ok, I guess. I am still not feeling the hype around the drama nor do I feel emotionally attached to anyone, not even the famous Duke Su, to be honest. I am just driven by the need to see people punished. Can't wait for the step mother suffer for her sins. it's coming soon, right ?? lol
