The sheer insanity of #Malaysians crippling traffic and civic functions out of abject stupidity and selfishness. Every single day.
Not only will they do nothing about it, but most go to great lengths to defend it.The situation is so absurd that anyone outside wouldn't believe it.

Malaysia To Implement World Anti-Doping Code At The 2027 SEA Games
In an effort to ensure that the 2027 edition of the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) will fully comply with the standards of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), host nation Malaysia will implement the World Anti-Doping Code in the regional games, according to a news report by VnExpress.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the news report of VnExpress. Some parts in boldface…
Malaysia is set to become the first Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) host to implement the World Anti-Doping Code at the 34th edition next year.
President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Mohamad Norza Zakaria stated at a press conference on April 8 that the adoption of the code aims to ensure that the 2027 SEA Games fully comply with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) standards, thereby enhancing the transparency and international standing of the Games.
Malaysia’s proposal was approved at the first meeting of the Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) for the 2025-2027 period, held on the same day.
The World Anti-Doping Code, first adopted in 2004, serves as the foundation for harmonizing policies, regulations, and activities to combat doping among sports organizations and authorities worldwide.
Mohamad Norza also said that the SEAGF had agreed to set May 8 as the deadline for national Olympic committees to propose additional sports for the 2027 SEA Games. After this date, proposals will be submitted to the Malaysian SEA Games Organizing Committee (MASOC) and the National Sports Council for consideration before being discussed at the next council meeting, expected in the coming months.
The 2027 SEA Games, featuring 38 sports, will be hosted across Sarawak, Penang, Johor, and Kuala Lumpur.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this recent development? Do you think the implementation of the World Anti-Doping Code will make Malaysia’s hosting of the 2027 SEA Games more credible and more transparent? What breakthroughs do you think will happen in the next SEA Games in relation to the anti-doping measures?

#India - Farmers devastated after 80% of key crops are wiped out — here's what happened
Story by Tina Deines, February 4, 2026
"#TomatoFarmers in one region in India are struggling after their crops were hit hard by #pests and #climatic factors.
What's happening?
"The Pioneer reported on the challenging growing season for farmers around the town of #Gaulapar in northern India, an area that is known for tomato production. According to growers there, about 80% of their cultivated tomatoes have been damaged by pests.
"The publication also lists '#ClimaticFactors' as a challenge for tomato farmers. For one, young tomato plants suffered damage in the initial phase of cultivation due to #HighTemperatures during the planting season.
Why is this crop damage concerning?
"According to the publication, the drop in tomato yields has led to surging prices at the market, affecting consumers. While some farmers are benefitting from higher prices, most are suffering due to the crop damage they've endured.
"This is yet the latest example of the struggles facing food producers worldwide and the cascading impacts they have on consumers.
"One recent study tied recent dramatic price increases in staple foods to rising global temperatures, which are leading to prolonged droughts, more severe heat waves, unpredictable precipitation patterns, and other severe weather. For instance, #Malaysians are facing soaring prices at the supermarket after a heavy #monsoon season wiped out a number of local #crops."

Good news for the thousands of #Malaysians using the #ShuttleTebrau #train to cross the #Causeway daily
#KTMB has announced a standardised RM5 one-way fare for the #rail service which plies between #JBSentral and #Woodlands beginning Aug 1
At present, commuters pay RM5 for a ticket from JB Sentral to Woodlands, but pay S$5 (RM22.50) when they travel from Woodlands to JB Sentral
The new fare of a RM10 round trip will only apply to Malaysians

It's cool to see a non-Malaysian interview #Malaysians about this. Though saying we speak 5-7 languages is a stretch lol. The average is more like 2-4, and it depends on what location, race & education. In Penang it's easier to find trilingual folks, for eg. There are some people who only speak ONE language, but they have to usually add another to improve their work opportunities in Malaysia.

You know how I know I am an optimist?
Because each time I go out I think to myself, "Nah it won't rain today. I don't need an umbrella 👍"
In a tropical country.
Where it is almost guaranteed to rain. -

My friend got #Covid and went to the government clinic to get #Paxlovid.
Guess how much she paid for the meds?
ZERO.
The doc also gave her 6 month supply of blood pressure meds. She had to pay for that, however.
RM1 (about US$0.25)
Universal healthcare is wonderful and I am glad #Malaysians have it. -

I know cultural appropriation is a biggie in the #UnitedStates
But as a person who comes from a country where people happily culturally appropriates from each other, and who descended from who people who culturally appropriated & married into British, Chinese and Malay culture ... I never understood the rage around it in the US.
A quick reminder that the world may look at some issues very differently :) -

The funny thing about Malaysians is that we are so used to thinking our country sucks that when folks say otherwise we think they have an ulterior motive and are trying to butter us up 😆
I've lived a couple of years abroad and have travelled extensively. I have come to realise every country has its problems. We in Malaysia, for one, take for granted our relative peace from conflict and natural disasters.
And no guns is also great 😆

"What language are you speaking?"
We laughed because we thought Manglish was quite understandable... but when you think of it, things get confusing really quickly when you mix Chinese, English and Malay words together.
#Malaysians are gifted linguists and we take that for granted. Our peolle can speak to Western nations, Indonesia, #China and #India. On top of that, we understand the cultural context of each as we are exposed to all the cultures via direct contact or media.

My friend and I were happy to answer though we were surprised that she didn't know that Malaysians often choose to speak English among ourselves.
That's when I realised the world is generally confused about #Malaysians. 😄
I don't blame her at all btw. I don't know many things about Australians and do not expect people to know about #Malaysia. Another funny incident in #Australia was when a friend and I slipped into Manglish. A Mauritian friend listened for a long while then said:2/4

How #Brexit is affecting the cost of #Books. Books in #Malaysia is gonna get a hella more expensive, or maybe the bookstores - the tiny amount we have left - will be left getting books from the US. It's sad we don't print our own books but I suspect the business isn't as profitable here as #Malaysians are apparently not great English book readers. The Malay book market, however, is thriving.

Oh look my very first CW police! My answer is - no I shall not 🖕It is not my job to take care of your tender, easily offended self. We #Malaysians love to celebrate food and will not hide #MakanApaToday to cater to your tender dietary sensibilities.
If you are offended by the #Food I eat there is the mute and block button and do kindly unfollow.
People can be so ridiculous 🤣 Those 10 calories used to type that message could have been used for something better.

@jannem You should have no worries in KL. It's a very modern city. And don't be shy - if you have time and wanna meet some #Mastodon #Malaysians, I am sure we can arrange something and show you around somewhere.
Of course, you may be far too busy for that and the timing may not be right but hey, if there's enough notice we can work something out ;)
