Day 20 - A drama that made you sad or cry
The Double. I haven't felt so deeply emotional about a tv show in a long time. So many teary scenes in many episodes. It's so beautifully made. My heart still aches each time I think about it.

We also discussed the part where the subtitle says that "Xue Li is the most talented woman".
I thought this meant something Ike, she's an artist, a singer, etc. But as the story goes, it doesn't seem like that's what they meant.I think "talented" here means more in the sense that she's very highly educated in terms of womens education and in the manners and etiquettes of that era.

Even with the English subtitles in The Double CDrama, I still need to ask my husband for further translations and explanation 😅
Like, what is "courtesy name"? What is "ceremonial weapon"? Maybe if I watch more CDrama these things will make more sense.

Updated my thoughts about episodes 8-15 of #KillMeLoveMe.
This is probably the most intense show I've watched this year. Yes, even more than #TheDouble which didn't capture my heart for some reason. I think this is due to the intensity of Liu Xueyi's performance.

At episode 11 of #TheDouble and I am bored. Me and popular dramas still don't mix 🤣.
Part of the reason is this - what drives me as a viewer is good characterisation & growth, more than plot. If a story is mid but has great character development, I am often on board, happily. But Id there's no character development, I struggle.
The Double is definitely a plot driven story with the characters there to push the plot forward. It's harder for me to appreciate it as a result.

Am at the "Jiang Li" goes to school stage of #TheDouble. Putting this on while doing housework and even built an IKEA office chair while watching it 😆
It is ok, I guess. I am still not feeling the hype around the drama nor do I feel emotionally attached to anyone, not even the famous Duke Su, to be honest. I am just driven by the need to see people punished. Can't wait for the step mother suffer for her sins. it's coming soon, right ?? lol -
Omg. I finally finished The Double! I love it - but I have an important question: where can I find this rumoured epilogue?! Why do Viki and Netflix not have it? I *neeeeeeeeeed* the proper reunion ☠️

Netflix has made me a full convert to K-dramas and C-dramas.
And #TheDouble is just so freakin' good.
Like I'm not sure anything will ever tops Who Rules the World. The Double doesn't have nearly as much martial arts, nor does it have Zhao Lusi being gorgeous and awesome and eating constantly. But its palace intrigue is even better and the women-centric script is such a fresh break from too much of the Chinese period piece version of bros.

Now that I've completed #ThePrincessRoyal, I feel like I'm finally ready for the schlocky, melodramatic & gothicness of #TheDouble.
About the The Princess Royal, I enjoyed it, but the last arc wasn't as good as I wanted it to be (classic #CDrama syndrome lol).
But on the whole a pleasant watch.
Also hunting for a good #KDrama - I need a good intense thriller like Flower of Evil and Memorist. If you know anything like this lemme know. I'm eyeing Flex X COP - any good? -

Just finished watching “The Double” 🌸 It is an amazing drama; the lead couple had electrifying chemistry, the villains had motives and there was a slew of good side characters. The ending is ambiguous but there is an extra package that can be purchased which tries to give an answer.
The drama is visually stunning and the OST is haunting. Perhaps one of the best dramas of the year so far…

Enjoying #TheDouble #Cdrama very much, but could those who know Chinese history tell me: does it relate to any real historical period or is it just Sino-fantasy?
Especially wondering about some of the male-female interactions, especially FL sleeping the night at Duke Su's without commentary on it from anyone...

Just finished watching episode 31 of “The Double” 🌸 He is heading to the border and they almost confess to each other but don’t quite. His advice that she should never change for anyone not even him shows that he truly understands her and respects her for it. She isn’t a damsel in distress; he’s not a hero who rushes to save. He allows her to save herself.

Have made it to episode 25 of “The Double” 🌸 Jiang Li is invited to three dinners at once: eats with her friends, refuses her family who manipulated her into an undiplomatic situation and turns up to the BBQ in Duke Su’s garden. In the most charming way she wraps him round her little finger and ends up flirting with him while pointing out that he is pouting and jealous, without ever saying so 😄 Very cute ❤️

Have made it to episode 17 of “The Double” 🌸 and this scene in the rain is the first time that the romance is clear to both of them. She is drunk and he is wary so nothing happens on the surface but they have taken a step towards each other emotionally.

Have made it to episode 11 of “The Double” 🌸 This is a turning point in their relationship because Duke Su allows Jiang Li to bite his hand rather than her lip while she is being treated for her hand hence suffering from hallucinations. He has taken a step further in his interest in her, not just helping her seek medical help but physically shielding her from self-harm.
