A reason for #hope. I was at a UK secondary school in the 70s and remember #RockAgainstRacism leaflets outside the school gates.
The #WhiteRiot documentary is a good reminder how overt #fascism and #racism were in 70s Britain. And the power of grass-root responses.
It's grim to see so much rolled back so fast, but I take some comfort that in my lifetime these right-wing attitudes were defeated, or at least shamed and largely shunned.

I thought I knew who would be on Friday’s ballot paper from looking at posters on poles, and from leaflets through the letterbox (only one candidate has turned up in person). But using #WhichCandidate I realised about a 1/3 of the candidates in my constituency are unpreferrable to me in every way, and about 3 or 4 were unknown to me. Reminds me, me and a few friends went to see the #musical #BookOfMormon which was fantastic and very funny, when we came out there were real actual Mormons handing out leaflets!
What kind of person are they hoping to recruit on the way out from that!? 😂

Last year at the Rose parade there were at least three sets of Christian fundamentalists pre-walking the parade route with megaphones, complaining about pride month, among other things, in addition to a handful of people working the crowd handing out leaflets (I kinda enjoyed getting into it with one of the megaphone dudes). This year they have been downgraded to one man walking silently with a sign. Happy to see those efforts faltering.
