Interestingly enough, after Joseph was tried for using his seer stone while digging for treasure and being found a fraud, he allegedly found the gold plates with his seer stone, and translated then with his seer stone. The text of the Book of Mormon includes multiple references to this concept of slippery treasures. It seems Joseph could have easily written in this as validation to his digging for treasure.

The Book of Moron Mormon is a kick-ass musical by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. It is also one of the four main holy scriptures of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and its offshoots (the other works being Pearl of Great Price and the Doctrine and Covenants, alongside the King James Version of the Bible), and by far the easiest one to get hold of due to the LDS church's printing of vast numbers of inexpensive copies for proselytizing purposes. It presents itself as another testament of Jesus Christ — comparable to the Bible — and purports to tell the story of Israelite expatriates who fled Jerusalem and wound up in the Americas, some of whose descendants allegedly witnessed the appearance of the risen Jesus among Native American populations (said in Mormon theology to be the descendants, partially, of these Israelite expats).

Never in U.S. history has there been such a distrust in leadership which allowed aberrants to get into power. Perhaps something similar effected the Lamanites who silently allowed evil to go relatively uncontested to the throne.

#London day 3

Watched the new #Avatar movie in IMAX, I'd forgotten what happened in the first movie since it was 13 years ago. Great movie even if a tad too long.

Walked around town being uncomfortable in the crowds, tried to do some shopping but we'd already spent too much on overpriced food (I'll not complain about prices in Finland anymore).

Finally, we went to see #BookOfMormon which was hilarious. My belly still aches from all the laughing.

I couldn’t figure out how Joseph Smith came up with The Book of Mormon. The explanations I’d seen from “anti” sources, just didn’t cut it. I happened upon a video presentation by Chris Johnson, “How The Book of Mormon destroyed Mormonism”, where, in short, he demonstrates that Joseph Smith, Jr., certainly borrowed from a book of his time “The Late War”, in the creation of The Book of Mormon.
