  1. Fuck yes, CORK. ❤️ ✊🏼

"Cork City Council has become the first to pass a motion committing “to using factual and accurate information, based on credible sources” in its discussions and debates."

Cork City Council passes first motion tackling misinformation following Belong To 'Check the Facts' campaign:

  2. Thank you, everyone who put your trust in me again to represent you in the North East ward.

After #LE24, my colleagues, Dan Boyle and Honoré Kamegni, were elected Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork — and a new progressive alliance is the second-largest grouping on #CorkCC.

  3. My latest monthly newsletter is out, slightly delayed owing to #LE24!

This month it includes updates on:

    🤝 A new progressive alliance
🏞️ The masterplan for Murphy's Rock
    🎸 Rory Gallagher's famous guitar

Plus all my motions and questions to Cork City Council.

  4. You want me to sum up that election in one headline? Not happening

"Freakish transfers, freakish statements, freakish election, freakish times."

  5. CW: #iepol

Forty Councillors on #Fingal County Council after #LE24

    17 broad left
    15 broad right
    8 independents
    1 unmentionable

Which way do you think the council will go?

  6. Sewing The Seeds of Their Own Destruction

The local elections are a warning sign for Irish politics

  7. In Ireland, we don’t vote on things like District Sewage Manager, and there are different regulations on political spending, so it couldn’t transfer directly.

With how #LE24 went and #EU24 is going, and with a general election in the next ~9 months, I’m now very curious about where and how it may be possible to do moneyball for Irish elections.

Could some smart canvassing efforts or campaign donations means of keeping far-right parties down and boosting the left?

  8. We didn't win any seats this time, but we fought hard.

We ran People Before Profit candidates in Galway City East, Galway City West, and for Galway County Council in Ballinasloe for the first time.

Adrian Curran in Galway City Central even beat a sitting Councillor.

  9. My last toots regarding #MNCC #LE24 (for now)

Barely any change (party wise) in Monaghan. Lost 1 Ind for 1 FG.

I am _happy_ that Pauric Clerkin (FG) who was in school with me got elected. Not a fan of the party though.

Nothing will ultimately change as a result of this weekend.

Just call the general election now and put us out of our misery.

  10. All the seats filled in Dublin City Council #le24

Two party’s Dublin stories are sort of striking here.

  11. Now that the #LE24 dust begins to settle. Anyone want to change their vote?

When will the General Election be called in Ireland #GE24 #GE25

  12. The final result in Donaghmede LEA is not much change on 2019. And yet some change. The 2 incumbent FF cllrs returned, the poll topper and his running mate. FG also keep a seat. It’s just not the incumbent, it’s his first-time running mate. So I would say some words will be had in FG locally. SF returned their councillor, but last out of the 5 seats. SF ran 3 candidates, only their former Mayor made it. Finally the Greens lost their seat to Soc Dems. #LE24 #Donaghmede #DublinCityCouncilElection

  13. Re SF, if I were them I would be v worried about firming up their positioning to the electorate coming into a GE.

Right now, there's a sense of them waiting in the wings, & if the #LE24 results say anything, it's that they need to work for it & not take it for granted, with clear actions, not spin.

  14. Pat Leahy: "Not in my lifetime will FF and FG merge."

Some moments later: *FF and FG merge*

  15. My Ireland GE prediction, these #LE24 party results will not translate to the GE as much as RTE are saying.

I think LEs are more about the candidates than the parties & voters see LE Vs GE like league Vs championship hurling.

If FF & FG results do transfer, then it's because SF dropped the ball.

  16. Tally above spot on. Turnout: 45.05%
    1. Tom Brabazon, FF, 2,759, Count 1
    2. Daryl Barron, FF, 1,512, Count 10

    4. Supriya Singh, FG, 1,036, Count 10
    5. Mícheál MacDonncha, SF, 992, Count 10
    Eliminated:
Shane Folan, LAB, 943. Terence Flanagan, FG, 939. Michael Burke, IND, 911. Tamara Kearns, SF, 675. Clodagh O'Moore, SF, 636. Proinsias Ó Conaráin, AON, 617. Peadar MacMillan, IP, 466. Clara McCormack, PBP, 426. Donnacha Geoghegan, GP, 359. #LE24 #Donaghmede
