Keep Left emerged from the Catherine Connolly presidential election campaign in 2025.
Similar to Marriage Equality (#MarRef) and Together for Yes (#RepealThe8th), it's non-party, and aims at uniting parties on the left around shared common goals. Dublin Central is something of a test bed.

I have two phones because I absolutely am not giving my enployer(s) permission to install or rely on anything on my own personal phone.
So now I’ve gotten requests to respond to an election exit poll questionnaire on both numbers.

Now the coalition talks can begin. It took months to form a government after the 2020 election. Will it take as long this time?

The count in Cavan-Monaghan has concluded, and this constituency is as-you-were.

We're still waiting on the final count in Cavan-Monaghan, and the final count of the general election.
Sarah O'Reilly is going to need 80% of Cathy Bennett's surplus in order to get elected. From what I've seen in other constituencies when the last Sinn Féin candidate has been excluded, in particular the number of non-transferrable votes that follow this, I simply don't think that's going to happen.

Even though Cavan-Monaghan is still counting, I think I've seen enough to rule out Aontú winning the fifth seat in that constituency. That one will be as-you-were.
And with that, this is what the final seat count in the Dáil will look like when that constituency has finished.

Counting has concluded in Louth, following a marathon 20 counts! I think that's the most this whole election!

The count has now completed in TIpperary North.
That recount always seemed unnecessary, as it was clear at the end of count 9 that both candidates would be excluded in one order or the other. And that's what happened.
No change in this constituency. Two to go.

Based on results in overnight, it's clear that Sinn Féin will finish in second overall, one or two seats ahead of Fine Gael.

Counting concluded in Wicklow around 5:30 this morning.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has lost his seat to Fine Gael (though Fianna Fáil did gain one in the new Wicklow-Wexford seat). The Greens also lost a seat here.

Counting in Longford-Westmeath finished around 3:30. Fine Gael's Micheál Carrigy gainst a seat from Fianna Fáil's Joe Flaherty, while the independent Kevin Morgan takes the newly-created fifth seat.

There will be a full recount in Tipperary North tomorrow. I expect most of the remaining constituencies to wrap up overnight, perhaps a few continuing in the morning.

Counting has concluded in Meath East. All three incumbent TDs have been re-elected, and the independent Gillian Toole has taken the new seat in this constituency.

After Colm Burke's surplus is distributed in Cork North-Central, PBP's Mick Barry is leading Labour's Eoghan Kenny by just one vote.
The distribution of Ken O'Flynn's surplus will be the final count, and will decide the fifth and final seat in this constituency.

STATE OF THE PARTIES AT 23:00 GMT:
We have 40 seats left to fill across 13 constituencies. Only six of those seats are in doubt.
Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, and either Labour or the Soc Dems will have a majority between them. The question for the smaller parties is would they want to enter government, and if so, under what terms.

A full recount has been called in Tipperary North, as seven votes mean the difference between continuing and exclusion.
The recount will begin tomorrow morning.

Green Leader Roderic O'Gorman manages to hold onto the fifth and final seat in this constituency, and will be the only Green TD in the next Dáil.
PBP-Solidarity gains the new seat in this constituency.

Two seats changing hands here, with Labour and the Soc Dems gaining at the expense of the Greens and Sinn Féin.

Catherine Martin becomes the 10th Green TD to lose her seat, being excluded on the 9th count in Dublin Rathdown.
Only two Green TDs remain in the running.

STATE OF THE PARTIES AT 18:00 GMT:
19 constituencies have finished counting, and nearly 100 seats have now been declared.
It may look like a three-way race, but when you look at seats which one party or another clearly will win (but hasn't yet), Fianna Fáil is well ahead, with Sinn Féin and Fine Gael battling for second place.
Counting will continue throughout the evening.

Mathematically, a centre-left coalition that doesn't include Fianna Fáil is now impossible.

Malcolm Noonan becomes the ninth Green TD to lose his seat, being excluded in the 8th count in Carlow-Kilkenny.
There are three Green TDs who have not yet been excluded.

More than half of the Dáil has now been filled, with half still to come in.
Fianna Fáil will be the largest party and will have a choice of coalition partners. Fine Gael and Sinn Féin are both still chasing second place.

It's now beyond doubt that Fianna Fáil will be the largest party in the Dáil, with Fine Gael and Sinn Féin battling for second place.

This is where the range of possible outcomes currently sits.
It's possible that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael might get a slim majority between them, but having another coalition partner (or like-minded independents) would certainly give them some breathing space to govern.

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael virtually unchanged from 2020, but huge drops for Sinn Féin and the Green Party. Smaller parties up, but quite fragmented.

At this point, I think I'm going to call it a night.
This is looking better for Fine Gael and Fiánna Fail than the exit poll was expecting, and it looks like the two of them will be able to come together to form a government.
But it will be without their third partner, the Green Party, who look like they're about to be excluded from the Dáil altogether.
There are still a few constituencies counting but most will resume in the morning.

We have nine first preferences still to be declared, but at this point Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil are starting to pull ahead of Sinn Féin.

Looks like it's going to be a while until we get a seat filled in Dublin South-Central, as no candidate is currently anywhere near a quota.
Sinn Féin, Fine Gael and the Green Party are down in this seat, while the Social Democrats are up from last time.

Verona Murphy is the first independent elected to the Dáil in Wexford, with Sinn Féin and Fianna Fáil down compared to 2020.

We now have first preferences declared in three constituencies, and the swing isn't a million miles out from the exit poll.
It's looking like a disaster for the Green Party, and not great for Sinn Féin either. But other smaller parties, particularly Labour and Aontú, are doing well thus far.

The main beneficiary is the independent candidate, at the expense of Sinn Féin and Fine Gael, but that doesn't look like enough to gain a seat.

So sickening that we’ve spent the last 3 weeks listening to FG & FF politicians taking credit for progressive policies like reduced childcare & public transport costs.
