The Hope and Courage Collective have today published their first annual "Ireland in Focus" report. It finds that, in Ireland, "public attitudes are becoming steadily more inclusive, but political narratives – particularly on migration – are increasingly shaped by far-right framing."
As always, people are way ahead of politicians: just like #Repeal, #MarRef and so many other so-called "divisive issues."

Keep Left emerged from the Catherine Connolly presidential election campaign in 2025.
Similar to Marriage Equality (#MarRef) and Together for Yes (#RepealThe8th), it's non-party, and aims at uniting parties on the left around shared common goals. Dublin Central is something of a test bed.

The display at St Peter's (aka Vision Centre) over the next month in North Main Street is worth seeing. Many memories provoked. #YesEquality #MarRef

And it was at about *this* time in the evening that we stopped off in a pub for a pint "on our way" to a massive results night community celebration nearby. I fell asleep while sitting upright after only a few sips.

It was at about this time 10 years ago, on Saturday, 23 May, when I burst into uncontrollable tears in a packed pub on the corner of Parliament St in Dublin
The official result of the marriage equality referendum had just been announced on TV - I had led the Dublin South Central constituency campaign, and months of effort, exhaustion, emotion, and relief erupted from within me
Ireland said Yes

@eibhear @ownohmanny Civil Partnership was introduced because politicians decided it would be an attack on marriage, contrary to the Constitution, to allow same-sex couples to marry.
After the marriage equality referendum, politicians decided that it would be an attack on marriage, contrary to the Constitution, to have an alternative to marriage available, and so: no more Civil Partnership.
