Seriously, I've long not used cash... ever, for years, given how extremely common #QR payments and #NFC payments are everywhere here (MY). Even at your local pasar (markets) and roadside stalls. This makes me not a fan of traveling to anywhere else where this isn't true, cos I hate having extra foreign notes and especially coins after a trip.
I'm going to #Bali soon. I heard QR payments (#QRIS) is popular and maybe even common in at least the city parts of #Indonesia (Jakarta, Bandung, etc.). I hope that's just as true in Bali? I'm expecting to make payments at like eateries, konbinis, tourist spots (for tickets n such), souvenir shops, massage/beauty parlors, etc. Would I need cash for these? I do expect needing to have some cash for 'parking jockeys' as tips (and emergencies ofc).
Most of my money for this trip, like I do anywhere else, will be in #Wise tho. I'll just add some money in my local currency (MYR), then for card payments, I'll just use #ApplePay and it'll auto convert n charge me in IDR. For QR payments, Wise unfortunately does not support QRIS, so I'll either use my local bank (#Maybank) since MY's #DuitNow supports QRIS, or do the same as I've done in #Thailand where I make QR payments using #TnGeWallet, which charges my Wise card. For cash, I'll bring just a little bit from home, then withdraw anything necessary from ATMs there with my physical Wise card - as it seems that at least for certain ATMs in Bali, they charge nothing for cash withdrawals (unlike Thailand). That'd help avoid exchanging too many bank notes from home. -
with #QR codes being more accepted, I wish #BPay here in #Australia would allow a biller to give me a QR code that I could scan that had the biller code, reference, and amount encoded and in my banking app I just confirmed that it looked right and hit 'pay'. I am always terrified of getting a digit wrong.
Heck #payid and #bsb/account transfers could also be set up the same way to make it easier to share/use.

@mos_8502 I have another script that creates a PDF of qrcodes... Encrypted files encoded to codegroup-qrcodes that you can store in a drawer... or laser etch onto something.

У EAN-13 есть контрольная цифра, и из этого обычно делают вывод: раз проверка сошлась, номер прочитан верно. Вывод неверный. Я получил с одной книги три разных номера, и все три контрольную цифру проходят. Разбираю, почему так выходит, почему у QR такой беды нет и что с этим делать — с кодом, замерами и таблицей, откуда взялась каждая цифра.

Ok, diese Variante des #QR-Scams kannte ich jetzt noch nicht: Töchterlein in #Italien mit den ragazze im Restaurant, sie meint, mit dem Scannen die Menükarte ansehen zu können. Sie wird auf eine Website geführt und klickt dort einen Prompt ab, der ihr Applepay um 50€ erleichtert (wie auch immer das genau gehen soll).
Sie merkt es, als die Bank ihr mitteilt, man habe ihre Kreditkarte wegen verdächtigen Transaktionen gesperrt.

everytime I see an article about some new app that has "certain" UI look, it makes me think it's made by AI, but there is no mention of it in the article, website or repo. It's a hard turn-off.
Just saw Decimen Optical Transfer app on Linuxiac and the moment I saw UI my spAIdey sense started tingling.
Same thing when I saw Rift Launcher on Ancient Gameplays the other day.Just disclose it ffs.

After one thousand million years, Firefox finally got QR code sharing and it sucks, compared to offline shitty simple private add-on I vibe coded using shitty chatgpt 3 years ago. To use Firefox QR you have to right click tab, select share and then QR code. To use mine you click whatever keyboard shortcut you assigned to it, that's it. And you can see the whole URL, unlike Firefox's.
Good job, Mozilla.
