#Geany rocks!
And so does #Kate.
But on #Slackware it’s best to use something like #sbopkg with #queuefiles to resolve the deps for Geany when installing since there are sooooo many dependencies 😉

Home biotch!
Home, home again.
I like to be here when I can.
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire.
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.
The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day, the paperboy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You rearrange me 'til I'm sane
You lock the door and throw away the key
And there's someone in my head, but it's not me
And if the cloud bursts thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
All that you touch
And all that you see
All that you taste
All you feel
And all that you love
And all that you hate
All you distrust
All you save
And all that you give
And all that you deal
And all that you buy
Beg, borrow or steal
And all you create
And all you destroy
And all that you do
And all that you say
And all that you eat
And everyone you meet (everyone you meet)
And all that you slight
And everyone you fight
And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that's to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon

Big BOOM 💥 a few minutes ago. I was staring off toward the south and into the sky when I saw the huge flash; 180° off into the horizon, from my comfy chair on the back patio.
One thousand one, one thousand two, thousand three, one thousand four, thous...... 💥 BOOM ❕❕❕
So, geez. Pretty fricken' loud for that distance. Not as far away as the harbor itself, so maybe some crystal methodists dispatched themselves to Valhalla.
In the olden days I'd hit up Twitter coz it was the best for "just happened", local events. People actually understood that kind of democratized power, to disseminate information his before it was possible to even enter a news cycle.
X? It's certainly better than it was before #Elon, but lost had been that hyper local community vibe that made real time distribution such a beautiful possibility in a non commercial distribution channel. I suspect that things will heavily coalesce between spontaneous local... Hubs, for lack of a better term, in a global search enabled environment (again), after this current madness constricting almost all other information through the next couple of weeks.
But then again, this is Los Angeles. Land of 💥 boom and doom (and I mean that in the most real sense). It's almost a bloodsport and aspects do exist where you can place wagers in some pretty heinous categories. I'm just being matter of fact here.I grew up here.
Shit happens around here. It always has. 💥 Booms aren't really anything new around here lolz.
I remember a particular big BOOM 💥 I was standing in the living room one afternoon at my buddy's 'luxury apartment' (The Willow Tree, in Torrance, on PCH, next door to my highschool).
I was stoned out of my mind (on weed, teenager, duh!) and I was facing a sliding glass door (open) mostly occluded by drapes, when suddenly, the drapes activity flew up from the carpeted floor, half way to the ceiling.
Then, as they softly fell back towards their positions in front of the glass in the sliding glass doors themselves, spanning I dunno, 12' maybe, they began violently rattling like a motherfucker! I thought both huge panes were going to shatter, like just eight feet in front of me, standing there like the stoned idiot I was.
I dunno recall exactly how many seconds had passed, at least 8 or 9 I figure but memories actually get warped over time, blyet I've always known distinctly, and I recall, instinctively, that it was an obscene amount of seconds passing before the BOOM 💥 was to be followed by those drape lifting gusts of wind hitting me in the face.
And it was the biggest BOOM 💥 that I had ever witnessed, still to this day; and the Port of Los Angeles maybe six or more Miles behind me, when a big ass ship (a really big ass ship) in the harbor was vaporized, lives indelibly within my very Carcass - I shall never, ever, EVER forget that.
Well that's all I really wanted to share. But I would like to ask everyone to take just a moment, no matter what country you're in/from, to reflect with thanks for all the men and women in uniform serving our countries so our children can sleep all comfy and shit at night, with their little Teddy Bears, autobots, ninja turtles, or Peter Rabbits.
Peace be to all, bitches 🤘 🤠🤘 Truly 🙂

Okay it's one of those, "What's peculiar here?" kinda things.
Consider the source itself. And I certainly don't mean code of any sort. 'Why' would 'They' cite Wikipedia, as good a resource as anyone might think it to be?
Why not cite yourself? Instead of citing someone else - who will merely turn right around and cite you as the ultimate source reference?
#FOSS #DOS, get it? I was rather amused. Anyway, Here it is.

I'm looking forward optimistically toward a future where either:
1. ) mastopub isn't mentioned with respect to networking at all
2. ) people stop conflating masto with #Fediverse - They are not the same.technically, #Lemmy might be a percentage of some sort in terms of traffic by MAUs with respect to mastotron - but not really; because it's a percentage of some sort in terms of traffic by MAUs with respect to Fediverse, and more specifically, ActivityPub traffic - NOT masto! Unless of course, one wishes to compare a single platform against another, but then it would usually be framed differently, instead of "as if" masto was the network itself, which it is not - it's just an aging Fediverse platform slowly, yet incrementally being marginalized as a goto buzzword, due to it's predatory nature with respect to other, better, older, and more feature complete Fediverse platforms, Including those operating over
diaspora*,Zot6,ActivityPub,OStatus, Etc.Oh, why is it, that Lemmy feels more vibrant, active, lighthearted, and even more powerful than mastotron?
Nevermind.... it doesn't matter. Coz if you think that's kewl, you should really check this out.
Oh, geez! Is that you? lolz....
Seriously though @rimu , Don't you think it's about time for #PyFedi to have it's own #Fediverse account that we can subscribe to via RSS or folllow? People really like it. People are really impressed. People ARE NOT saying things like this about it:
> I don’t like that the easy install instructions are longer than this blog post. I don’t like that the build failed after ten minutes due to a missing dependency because they couldn’t check for it before starting. I don’t like that restarting the build literally restarted from crate zero and rebuilt everything. I don’t like that the build failed fifteen minutes later trying to compile lemmy-schema because it ran out of memory, so I had to add swap. I don’t like that the build failed again another twenty minutes later trying to link lemmy_server because I didn’t add enough swap. Come on, man.
Attribution:
https://flak.tedunangst.com/post/azorius-01So yah, we were discussing PyFedi in the Fediverse-City Matrix room, and clumping together notions such as how your following assertion here has found a relevance that other 'similar' so-called link aggregators have eschewed:
> PieFed - a federated forum, similar to Lemmy but written in Python
And indeed, even at merely the first glance, it looks a heckuvalot (sic) more friendly than just link aggregation, the lines begin to blur even further when you take a look at the fast and friendly NodeBB, not too dissimilar, but not as lightweight as PyFedi - Wait! Are we supposed be calling it something else? #PieFed, perhaps? Are you undergoing a rebranding and just haven't renamed the git repo over at Codeberg yet?
Do please let us know :) Piefed has a lot of other FUN connotations, as both a play on words and also just falling off the tongue a little easier.
Yes back to the question of whether you feel it's the right time for your PyFedi project to launch its own Fediverse account - preferably, if I might be so bold as to suggest, NOT on a masto instance. After all, and like you said:
> Mastodon feels like a fucking funeral.
Indeed it does. I could recommend a couple of Good Mitra instances, put in a word for you on one of the dev's reference flagship intances, or Friendica is awesome too - very awesome, and unlike mastopub, it doesn't, "feel like a fucking funeral", lolz (as you sooo eloquently stated). It also interoperates seamlessly with and between Diaspora, Bluesky, Hubzilla/Zot, and the entire ActivityPub portions of the Fediverse. The Pleroma and Misskey family of forks have some nice offerings as well. I think a lot of people would find it refreshing if a new and refreshing federated forum/aggregator project with an enjoyable, clean and friendly feel had it's Fediverse presence somewhere other than a cemetery ;)
I predict a rapid rise in the deployment of #PyFedi instances. just look at the number of #Mbin deployments as/of late, and #Kbin before that - both are still enjoying accelerating adoption rates.
Yup! There's a lot of excitement and people are talking - thought you might like to know ;) And thank you for creating PieFed!

Oddly enough, This morning I tuned into TCM coz I didn't really wanna be paying attention to the TV while I was working on wrapping up the deployment of an enterprise cloud platform for a client; not that I was under a deadline, but I needed focus, AND some chamber music of a sort in the background - something I wouldn't be rocking out to.
Well, one of those films that played earlier today was starring Jean Simmons. I'm always looking up the talent, I can't say if it's to glean a bit of perspective on the art form or just to glean some aspect of the industry.
Anyway, Jean played a lot of glamorous, gorgeous characters, and was cast in some pretty high profile roles, with Academy Award nominations and even the role of a Starfleet Admiral in TNG.
But the real topper, I think, was me wondering what it must have been like to in some way be overshadowed during the last 40 years of her career by a money grubbing narcissist that might not have ever even really cared about the music itself...
And then you go and draw down with a humorous, tongue in cheek simile, an astute observation on the same day, lolz....

!!Moderation request!!
I come home to find my feeds/streams flooded with vitriolic politicial drivel emanating from a group to which I belong that states emphatically that it doesn't tolerate off-topic traffic.
The stated purpose of this Fediverse group on my home Friendica server is stated as follows:
This is a Friendica group dedicated to #Fediverse news. What are the advantages of a group over a hashtag?
Groups can do things that hashtags can't. For example, groups:
- are moderated
- can re-share content
- can speak as a group
Joining and contributing to a Friendica group is easy. To share your posts to @Fediverse News, follow these steps:
- Follow @Fediverse News
- When sharing Fediverse news, tag @Fediverse News
- The @Fediverse News group will then re-share your post
This is an actively moderated group. Be sure to stay on topic, or your posts will be removed.
As per the instructions for this Friendica / Fediverse group, I'm notifying the moderation team by CC'ing the following address with this complaint and request to remove the vicious hate that's been spewing into the group here all day long while I've been away working:
People who sign up for a Fediverse News site should not be subjected to hatred being fomented, propagated, and bantered about with respect to unrelated matters, such as (abominable) off-topic, political vitriol.
- ) Posting announcements concerning the onboarding and subesquent federating nature of a public figure's account on threads.net is a relevant matter to the Fediverse, Fediverse Technology, and Fediverse News.
- ) acerbic comentary, name calling, ad hominem, and libel, as has consumed the group today, is not - those posts are a cause of severe harm and should most certainly, IMO be removed as per the terms/rules quoted above.
- ) The level of cacophony and pejorative hate speech permitted to continue throughout the day today is shameful. This is not the place to engage or encourage such juvenile behavior, let alone permit it to foment and spread across the Fediverse as it has today!
Moderation Team: Thank you, in advance, for taking your time to address and resolve this matter, returning this group to the decorum it usually enjoys with people conversing and observing the principles of civil discourse.

Thank you Jawad!
It's good to receive feedback that helps people determine information that has value to others. It helps us focus on topics with merit.
There are a couple of additional things I'd like to address though, as briefly I can, considering I'm a rather loquacious sort ;)
- I think it was @frogzone that brought up the general controversies that typically do follow #Cloudflare around. I have privacy conscious friends on both sides of that widening chasm...
In general it tends to be the developer sorts that although are cautious, reserved usually, when passing around compliments where Cloudflare is concerned, they're also the pragmatists where performance and dare I say security is concerned, and are often quite willing to turn to Cloudflare (specifically, as a #CDN).
With respect to security concerns, it is true that incorporating a CDN does provide a level of obfuscation of the IP spectrum, that is often cited as a major reason by hosting providers for the customer to incorporate/subscribe to CDN services (more often than not, Cloudflare - because they offer better kickbacks (er.... incentives) to hosting providers.
Then there's the hard core privacy concerned folks. #Last_Mile delivery performance considerations typically being much less of a compelling reason to use, let alone pay, for a CDN like Cloudflare to be injected into the website admin's #DNS. This is because, and let's be real here folks, most websites don't generate anywhere near the levels of traffic that their Nginx or Apache Servers can easily serve up, and for folks on the other side of the world from the particular website, a few milliseconds on a clear day is negligible.
Now, if you're running a very busy site, like... Etsy, or even really popular sites with thousands of requests per minute then you can really benefit by spreading your cache around the globe on super fast CDN services. Even a site that receives on average 1 request per second (60 per minute - and that's pretty respectable traffic) doesn't really benefit enough from the #caching related benefits of a CDN to mark a compelling case - the Last Mile Delivery, however, to Oslo, Norway, from a website in Melbourne, Australia... that can indeed improve perceived response by 250ms (2.5 seconds) or so.
So, just like these so-called VPN services, like NordVPN, etc., there needs to be an effort to educate the consumer as to the actual benefits expected for specific matters - some may be important considerations for the consumer, while others may just be a tech support person in a boiler room trying to reach that bonus number for the month... I've seen waaaay too many people purchase services they really didn't need or would receive much benefit from, and many support desk personnel upselling customers with things they probably shouldn't have.
Now, there's another thing I didn't mention - #Denial_of_Service attacks... Good ole #DDoS campaigns. Well, first of all, one should check with their hosting provider - whether they have the benefit of protections against such attacks, and then, weigh the added benefit of using something like Cloudflare to do the same job (are you paying for protection that you might need twice?).
I personally would probably not have included Cloudflare as part of the #HowTo. It can be added at anytime, but some folks swear by it, so it's not that I'm on the fence about Cloudflare, it's just that I look at it more from the engineering and security perspective, with an eye specifically focused on the veracity of any perceived needs by the customer. And I'm not super fond of turning all of that DNS control (and valuable #metadata) to some third party.
I realize that may have only served to raise more questions, so I'll just say that this is why you pay your trusted IT support professionals who make all of their money on labor they've billed you for, to sit down and discuss what you may or may not need, and especially, why 👍
- Brenden Eich was invoked by @marathon - and I too, concur that It is only right to measure technology based on it's own merit and capability - without regard to superfluous and unrelated matters of personal politics.
When haters start fomenting hatred, disparaging everyday, average people for their informed choice of technologically capable software relevant to the task at hand, I like to remind those vile, adolescent, sniveling children that they're literally denigrating things like Brave Browser and Soapbox (the platform I'm authoring this post on), while at the same time availing themselves of the full compliment of features that #JavaScript's technology affords them - JavaScript, invented by #Brenden_Eich...
And they have my blessings to completely swear off and forgo ever using JavaScript again - but they won't, will they? Why? Because they're filthy, hateful, hypocrites consumed by their own criminal commiserations.
⛵

h/t to my friend @mjj for bringing this to my attention.
In other news, Google was, for lack of a better term, convicted for being a monopoly, just a couple of days ago in a court case brought by the Attorney General of (I think) Iowa - I'm sure there will be others here reading this that know more about that and what's to be expected next in the fake world of justice, but so far so good 👍
Anyway, point being, One man can make a difference in the world, and everyone should consider contributing to #OSM.
