Most of you have never heard of Lynne and Bill Jolitz, nor do many of you have any awareness of the giants they really are, being the birth parents to not just three daughters, but also UNIX for this online, interconnected world we all live in, and affording us just sbout every single realtime convenience we all have the luxury of taking for granted.
Bill passed away earlier this year. Here's his story (your story, actually) from the woman who birthed that UNIX with him and gave us #386BSD (#Jolix), from which #NetBSD, followed by #FreeBSD, then #OpenBSD and #DragonflyBSD owe their direct lineage.
It was the beginning of free UNIX software for the masses.

Let me take s moment to ask you...
I use .kdbx too - #KeepassDX and #KeepassXC to sync between #Android, desktop, with cloud, using #Syncthing.
How do you find compatibility between #VaultWarden and #kdbx in regards to the "notes" section in those #Keepass clients?
I thought about doing a migraine, or at least a parallel management of them, but I rely heavily on my "notes" section for many particulars and reminders for my various accounts.
Thanks!

Thanks for your response, Tallship. It seems that we agree in many respects.
One thing to consider is whether FDroid would need to become FBrowser. Two reasons. The code chunks could be assessed to conform to a SHASUM (ignoring that we're unsure if FDroid would even compile WebAssembly). The other reason is to ditch #GoogleSafeBrowsing, if we are concerned about privacy and censorship then checking a DL'ed #PWA with Google for "#safety" would bring us back to square one.

You should give the soundtrack a good listen too - it's marvelous!
I never saw the movie, but learned the whole story from my parents who used to play that album all the time.

@darnell @carnage4life Darnell,
I think, respectfully, that you may be conflating a worry if the potential future (taxation of unrealized gains, which is the plan anyway) with taking in and taking out crypto funds with fiat currency via centralized exchanges.
people who accept (certain types) of crypto for goods and services that they offer and purchase goods and services from others without ever leaving the realm of cryptocurrency really don't concern themselves with such shenanigans.
But for those who use non-custodial wallets, and those who "trade" through these centralized exchanges (that work on fractional reserves too)...
Woe be unto them.
That fractional reserve crap, like the FDIC insured banks themselves practice, was blown sky high and exposed for the legalized ponzi fraud that it is when we affliicted them with our Monerun.
Bing that at GigabBlast.com and you'll see how deep the CEXes are in over their heads.
I think part of them design here, is that the government is doing what my daddy used to tell me:
"Son, I'mma trust you, but I'm only going give you enough rope to hang yourself, if you abuse your freedom I'll shorten that leash and take away your car keys".

First discovered in 2002, paleontologist draw comparisons of #Dinocephalosaurus_orientalis with other aquatic species having no modern day analogs - why did the entire family of #Tanystropheidae or the genera exhibiting these morphological functionalities not continue?
Perhaps just as interesting is the convergent evolution (especially with respect to their necks) between that of Dinocephalosaurus and members of the Tanystropheus genus. A close resemblance on the surface, yet Dinocephalosaurus orientalis was strictly an aquatic species.
I've included an artists reconstructive rendition of Tanystropheus longobardicus for comparison between the two, but note that Dinocephalosaurus had four flipper-like feet of the same size, and unable to exist, or at least thrive in a terrestrial environment, where Tanystropheus exhibited larger feet in the rear - not unlike your hands being smaller than your feet.
And yes, as Yuki (@youronlyone) offers up as a contemplative inference, the whole "Dragon" and "Loch Ness Monster" corollaries are uncanny, raising questions as to why would pre-industrial societies actually have such fables, or in the case of the latter, claims of sightings, if not rooted in some previous observation by humans?
Dinocephalosaurus was extant from the late #Paleozoic (late Permian period) through the early #Mesozoic (early Triassic period) eras.

This is really messed up stuffs...
I call it despotic overreach via subjugation through state sponsored industrial surveillance systems.... It has nothing to do with capitalism but rather, that thing that Thomas Jefferson gave us... you know, the thing.
Been to a grocery store lately? You've been complaining for decades now, that they artificially inflate the prices of items so that they can offer you steep discounts on a rotating list of them - If, and only if, you consent to being a "club member". Personally, I've consented many a times; Rite-Aid, Albertson's, Wallgreens, CVS,Von's, and many others, as Brittney Spears, Charles Manson, Joseph Stalin, and even John Rambo, another obvious #nom_de_guerre to combat what would follow as spam but worse, industrial surveillance and privacy mining (of course, you also need to use a fake phone number and a /dev/null email addy).
Have you tried to buy things at Jack in the Box or 7/11 or Mcdonald's lately? ... They have an app for that. Why do you suppose that is? They could just as easily and more efficiently deliver their content via PWS/webapps through your regular browser experience (they don't want to be counter-measured with uBlock Origin or integrated anti-tracking measures on the more sensible web browsers).
They're working really hard to deliver you to evil. I walked into a Smart & Final the other day and saw an unbelievable price for a 30 pack of Natural Light Beer - you had to use a "digital coupon" (just like you do at 7/11 to pay the regular, competitive price for an item). I asked the cashier where in their weekly rag the "digital coupon" was located, and she informed me that one needs to install an app to be eligible for the discount. Fuck that noise. Homey don't play dat.
China has WeChat ... Resistance is Futile.
When you install an app, it's a whole different ballpark of invasiveness, intrusions, data farming, and privacy mining, it's like it's your first day in #Pelican_Bay and you announce that you're going to drop the soap as you shower.
So the next time someone says, "Thank you for shopping at Walmart!", or synonymously, "Go Fuck Yourself", just smile, and offer, "Yes, there's an app for that".
What follows below in the #boost I've shared, that so inspired me to address this issue, is not a simple inconvenience - it's a new beginning :p In #Communist_Red_China, you do everything on your #WeChat app - you submit your elementary school homework, you buy stuffs at the local market, you inform on yourself and your friends to their state equivalent of the #Stazi, and you tell them exactly where to come and arrest, perhaps even disappear you. #Falun_Gong? The subject, and rock star, in this 1976 photograph is the Apple I microcomputer. Of the two men in this photo, one is a talented, affable, friendly and approachable genius and superhero who created this personal computer. The other is Steve Jobs.

Let's not forget that perhaps one of the most egregious encroachments upon one's privacy, let alone the unfounded presumption and requirement that one must have a mobile phone device that supports SMS messages, is the very fact that the user is REQUIRED to submit their DID as a prerequisite to completing their account onboarding - even Signal still requires this, even though you are actually able to "hide" that DID from others so that they can no longer benefit by the discovery of your Signal account through the farming of their own respective contact databases!
Those are horrific, deplorable privacy incursions, and just one reason why I refused to use Signal for the longest time.
I actually cannot speak directly to whatsapp, since I never have, and likely never will, have an account on that communications platform (for those very same reasons cited above), but I suspect the same is the case with whatsapp as it was until fairly recently with Signal.
Matrix, XMPP, and many others have no such requirements, although some of them 'may' include, at your option, the option to do so - for the purpose of password recovery alone.
Just my two cents! ;)
Thanks to Yuki and everyone else who offered up their thoughts on the matter so far :)

@big_diggity Once my phone died i just decided to sleep between ask the tremors that followed. Power was restored about twice hours later around 4pm, and there was a had leak nearby they had to fix before I could turn my gas back on.
The cabinets in the kitchen flew open she there was all kinds of broken dishes and glasses on the floor, and my stove aged refrigerator walked across the floor too.
I haven't felt a tremor in about three or four hours but they were coming once or twice an hour before that.
I grew up in L.A., so I'm no stranger to earthquakes but i was sitting almost smack dab in top of this one at 6.4 in the Richter scale, so yeah, when it didn't end for a long time i did consider trying to get outside.
You get sccustomed to earthquakes thinking, why bother? It'll either kill me or it won't - but not this one, it was really freaky and the thought of the ceiling coming down with the lights flashing and shit flying around really did give me cause to get right with the man upstairs.
I had noticed in the past two years that it seemed like there are ten times more earthquakes here than in Los Angeles, but they're usually very small and brief, and barely noticable. It did put into my mind that, 'that ain't right', and apparently, my Spidey Sense was correct.
Thank you and everyone else for your kindness and concerns 🙂
My coffee press survived unscathed though. So there's that.

@Zerglingman @mnemonicoverload @tallship It does if you select that option to expand in the user's settings, but ONLY in your local mastodon client, elsewhere in the Fediverse, it's one post followed by (in her case) 5 spam messages!
For the most part, these #twitugees won't take 30 seconds to #RTFM, and then complain when it doesn't behave just like that shithole they love so much (from whence they came).
So It's not that setting on the mastodon platform that's so concerning, but instead, all the people in the #Fediverse on all of the other platforms that are getting bombed with this #spam.
I've met a couple score of really great, considerate, and attentively conscientious #newcomers from the #deprecated legacy #silo over there, who are interested in knowing how their Fediverse software works and propagates their posts - how it is received by others, and generally taking a real interest in making the Fediverse the very best neighborhood it can be...
And then there's the #narcissistic #jerks that just want everything to be like #Twitter, and by golly, come hell or high water, they're gonna make sure that everyone else in the Fediverse is going to have it served up that way.
They are so clueless. It isn't and never will be like that at all.
At least almost ⅔ of them have already returned there where they belong, after realizing that their petty little #protest had no effect on #Elon taking out the trash and cleaning it up over there.
About half of that other ⅓ that have remained though? Well, like I said, they're mostly great people and I've made a lot of new friends!
mastodon is such a small part of the entire tree of the Fediverse - and these #inconsiderate #spammers should take into account that they're neither more important or special than anyone else here. -
h/t to my friend @mjj for bringing this to my attention.
In other news, Google was, for lack of a better term, convicted for being a monopoly, just a couple of days ago in a court case brought by the Attorney General of (I think) Iowa - I'm sure there will be others here reading this that know more about that and what's to be expected next in the fake world of justice, but so far so good 👍
Anyway, point being, One man can make a difference in the world, and everyone should consider contributing to #OSM.
#tallship #FOSS #Crowd_Sourcing #Open_Street_Map Thanks Morten!

Fascism is the melding of govt with #bigBusiness. It takes whatever angle is #expedient to achieve this. Eg. nationalist if that will appeal to some factions; neoliberal, technocratic solutions for others, who enjoy electronic hallucinations etc.
In WWII you should see the companies that lined up to support the German Miracle. The same ones building the "quarantine facilities" today, together with CAGEFAM.
