@kaschmir @stadt-bremerhaven.de #keepassdx kann die 2FA-Tokens ebenfalls schon lange speichern, und mit einer Nextcloud dazu habe ich das direkt geräteunabhängig überall verfügbar. Klar, das konterkariert die Idee von 2FA, aber ob ich nun keepassdx und tokn oder nur keepassdx auf demselben Handy benutze, macht dann auch keinen grossen Unterschied mehr.

Migrated to @keepassxc and @kunzisoft months ago, everything works on all my devices. Barely a blip to my password workflow habits.

So I just nailed the coffin shut and deleted my @bitwarden account. Hope you and all your investors lose your shirts

Offenbar geht das doch, wenn man sich traut, den Treiber im APK-Format von GitLab zu installieren:

Dann ist es recht easy: In #KeePassDX zum Öffnen der Datenbank das Password als ersten Faktor und 'YubiKey Challenge-Response' als zweiten, dabei den YubiKey hinten an die Rückseite halten. Zack, bin ich drin.

Ich hab das alles mal gemacht, ohne weiter Nachzudenken, was genau ich da tue und wie sicher das ist. Erst mal scheint das zu tun.

Tja. der erste Eindruck bei NFC ist tatsächlich ernüchternd derzeit. Die einzigen beiden Devices mit Hardwaresupport für NFC sind #Fairphone 4 mit #Android 15 ohne Google-Account.

Mit aktivem NFC und #KeePassDX kann ich eine Test-Datenbank mit Challenge-Response als zweiten Faktor nicht öffnen unter Hinweis auf einen fehlenden Treiber. Dazu gibt es wohl ein 3 Jahre altes Projekt #ykdroid in #F-Droid, welches ich auch ganz naiv testweise installiert habe. Das greift aber nicht und bei #Android bin ich sowieso schnell an der Grenze meiner Fähigkeiten und der Leidensbereitschaft.

Für den Moment geht es da wohl nicht weiter.

@Fando Yo me cambié a #KeePassXC, y sincronizo la base con #Syncthing. Tengo una red de sincronización entre la laptop, la tablet, el móvil (con #KeePassDX), mi home server, y la iMac del laboratorio donde trabajo vía #Tailscale gratuito. Hasta el momento no he tenido problemas.

As part of phone migration and general degoogling, I am wondering what to use instead of Google Authenticator for #TOTP MFA codes.

I can store them in #KeePassDX (which syncs via my self-hosted Nextcloud to my laptop and desktop) but that feels a bit eggs-in-one-basket.

Any other suggestions, firstly on how to export them sensibly from Authenticator (I assume I can scan the QR codes it generates with something other than Authenticator to extract the TOTP seeds), and secondly on what to use instead on my new #GrapheneOS phone?

Boom, done.

It took less than an hour to completely replace #Bitwarden with @keepassxc on the desktop. Functionally a drop-in replacement.

It took just a few minutes to completely replace Bitwarden with @kunzisoft #KeePassDX, after syncing the vault across all my devices instantaneous with #Syncthing. A drop-in replacement in every way, right down to the fingerprint unlock.

Should have done it long ago. Sayonara, Greedheads!

@tomjennings using #keepass2android for a long time because of the embedded cloud sync option. But that can be also handled in other ways. On Linux #KeepassXC. For me a perfect combination also covering the basic needs you mentioned.
As keepass2android is only on google play, i also thought about switching to #keepassDX from the @IzzyOnDroid repository. Comparisons I know are mainly from the german @heiseonline or @heisec magazine

What's the difference between Free and Libre of the #KeePassDX-App?

In F-Droid there are now two versions from #Kunzisoft. The namechange didn't really work out and is more of a confusion...

U2F has been superseded by FIDO2 (hardware keys in WebAuthn mode) and Passkeys (example in Dutch: https://todon.nl/@ErikvanStraten/116285192238090438).

Both WebAuthn methods have advantages and disadvantages.

If you don't like them, use a trustworthy passwordmanager and:

• Let it create a unique, random, as long as possible, pw per account

• Make backups of the pw mngr database

• Device compromise means "game over"

• Use Autofill (easy in Android and iOS/iPadOS)

Draadje met screenshots: passkey aanmaken en gebruiken om in te loggen - gebruikmakend van de KeePassDX als wachtwoordmanager onder Android.

Als eerste moet de app KeePassDX zijn geïnstalleerd (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunzisoft.keepass.free) en geconfigureerd (dat beschrijven voert te ver voor deze serie toots). Als enige: in de hoofdpagina van de database heb ik "mappen" aangemaakt met als namen "0-9", "ABC", "DEF" etc. om de zaak overzichtelijk te houden (zie de screenshot hieronder).

Daaronder maak ik, per website, een submap aan (met de naam van die website zonder eventueel voorafgaande "www.").

Ich hatte heute das Problem, dass nach Update auf Android 16 das Entsperren von Apps wie KeepassDX per Fingerabdruck nicht funktionierte. Es kamen Fehlermeldungen wie "Key user not authenticated" und "Invalid operation handle".

Bei mir hat das geholfen:
1. Biometrische Entsperrung in der App entfernen
2. In den Android-Optionen Displaysperre vollständig ausschalten.
3. Gerät ausschalten und nach 2 Minuten wieder einschalten
4. Sperren neu einrichten

Apparently, to use passkeys under GrapheneOS with KeepassDX, if you used an old version of kp before, you have to go to the system settings, disable the password/passkey service, and set it to keepassdx again.

It didn't work for me before, now it does.

The research team of Prof. Paterson found cryptographic technologies from the 90s. "We were surprised by the severity of the security vulnerabilities".

In most cases, the researchers were able to gain access to the passwords – and even make changes to them.

Aside from this research paper, recommended password managers often include #KeePassXC and/or #KeePassDX for Android or #KeePassium for iOS. Also, it's usually a good idea to store only accounts and passwords that are really necessary on the go, especially on mobile devices.
