  3. According to iNaturalist, this is a specimen of ***Catacanthus punctus***. And according to what I can find out, it is a type of Shield Bug. Visitor to our campsite in Cooktown, Far North Queensland. Absolutely incredible colours. Went on its way unharmed, after kindly hanging around to be photographed.

  11. I don't think this is a newly emerged monarch bc I haven't seen a chrysalis, or a caterpillar with the right timing... but maybe it was just very sneaky?? The butterfly was not in a hurry to fly away at all. 🦋 #insects #invertebrates #bugsky
