  3. I poured my heart and soul into this album. The words I write, the sleepless nights, and the memories that keep me company—all of my secrets are in here. My demons and I write silent screams and forge them into lyrics.

  4. Waves rise and fall with ceaseless motion, surging with power and retreating into abyss. They envelop silently and erode that which seems immovable, blurring the boundary between the way things seem and the way they are.

  6. CW: The Veil Spoilers

    I watched #TV show #TheVeil.

The premise was a bit shaky from the start. The idea the West would send a secret agent to find out a person's identity rather than just arresting them and interrogating them, is a touch on the weak side. When did the West care about wrongful arrests?

Putting the obvious pro-West propaganda aside (these shows and movies are never allowed to be made unless they show the West in a good light) the idea of a road movie in which a secret agent and a member of a terrorist organisation flee together is quite good. A slightly implausible set up, but an enjoyable concept.

The idea is basically an extended version of those scenes in James Bond where the bad guy and Bond know who each other but pretend they don't, but continually say things that suggest they do.

This part of the show was really good. And the characters were great. In fact, Elisabeth Moss is a better James Bond than any of the James Bonds.

The show does take the time to criticise Western foreign policy, but overall it is only terrorist resistance to the West (from Isis) that is condemned for being bad. The Isis member points out that the West kills thousands of people in the middle east and uses that to justify the terrorist plot that is underway. But ...

  8. Finished watching The Veil this week. Quite a good spy vs spy, stop-the-terrorist thriller. Elisabeth Moss was excellent as always, believable as the secret super agent. Sympathetic performances all around, with some good surprises. Perhaps over-complicated in parts, but enjoyable.

  10. #TheVeil, a #Hulu #TVSeries, has a good premise and acting but it suffers from unnecessary and unbelievable #action sequences and a final episode that goes from odd, to unrealistic (no cross-cut #shredder?), to sexual creepiness, to "why aren't you driving?!?", to wtaf?

It was still mostly enjoyable but trying to mix #LeCarre with #Bond (plus whatever the cottage scene was) lessened what could have been really good or even excellent.

    Worth a watch, but disappointing.
