Mechanics of _Thirsty Sword Lesbians_ repeatedly transform attraction and emotional interest into actionable relationships. The game’s moves expect emotional and physical attraction to alter the course of conflicts. But the game also concerns other types of **desire**: belonging, recognition, identity, purpose.

Happy Pride! 🌈✨ I've just replenished Community Copies of The Admirer, one of the playbooks I wrote for Thirsty Sword Lesbians (and there are plenty left of The Little Red, too). I'm really proud of the design work I did on it, so please check it out!

My wife wants me to run an rpg based on the Locked Tomb series. First thing to come to mind would be to adapt Thirsty Sword Lesbians. But what other suggestions do people have?

Throwback valentines from Valentine, the character from the Admirer, my "do I want her, or do I want to *be* her" fan playbook for Thirsty Sword Lesbians.

CW: ttRPG, campy queerness
So we're after Session Zero for a new #TSL #ThirstySwordLesbians campaign.
And it looks like it may be FUN.
Two players so far, here's what we came up with after the big brainstorm.
We went for an urban fantasy setting with a very comedic, very goofy, very campy and very action-heavy tone. The campaign will revolve around a queer sex club that caters to all sorts of fun weirdness and provides sexy entertainment in addition to being friendly to relative normies.
The two characters are an adventurous to the point of being an adrenaline junkie lady who's basically in charge of new talent acquisition, but also implicitly in charge of finding vulnerable people and rescuing them to relative safety because the club is a safe haven for all sorts of freaks, both in the "rejected by society" sense and in the "this is urban fantasy, so there's plenty of space for unsubtle allegories for queerness" sense.
One of her rescues is the other PC, a former/escaped member of an oppressive coven of trad-Catholic evil magic nuns. Still retaining the "sexy nun" campy absurdity. She's absolutely star struck with a new life of sexual freedom but also has very weird ideas of what that actually entails.
The two NPCs that act as a face for the club and the community it represents is a performer who is a massive diva and demands that all player characters basically advertise her shows 24/7, and a belleaguered head security officer lady who basically wants everyone to leave her alone.
There are, as usual in TSL campaigns, two major antagonists that are a stand-in for oppression, patriarchy and heteronormativity and all that kind of stuff.
One is a pimp who is extremely charismatic and an almost supernaturally genius person who wants to discredit the club because it provides freely the pleasures he means to profit from.
He also has an army of loyal (well, "loyal") but implicitly redeemable sex workers who fight with swords, with very Kill Bill-esque feel to the whole thing.
The major direct antagonist will be his bookkeeper who has the distinction of being the only woman the pimp (who's a sleaze, obviously) doesn't flirt with or pursue.
The second antagonist will be a governmental agency of basically health/sanitation inspectors who carry swords for no adequately explained reason and have a secret mad sciencey chemical lab where they ostensibly test samples but which they kidnap people into.
They want the club shut down.
Yes, it's going to be WEIRD I think xD

Running #ThirstySwordLesbians for #PrideMonth and wondering why the hell my friends keep letting me run games. :BlobhajPrideHeart:
#TTRPG -
#BundleOfHolding has an excellent collection of not just #LGBTQ+ _friendly_ RPGs, but most of them are very much _focused_ on that.
Some real greats in here: #ThirstySwordLesbians, #Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast, #MoonlightOnRosevilleBeach, #StarCrossed
The latter alone is worth the $10 for the basic tier, but $25 gets a bunch of resources for all four games.

We have an online Thirsty Sword Lesbians campaign comming up next month in our "Looking for Group" section. If you are interested, sign ups are in the server: https://www.discord.gg/Tbfu9DSrxU

Spent the afternoon playing #ThirstySwordLesbians with my gay friends.
My character is Elmore, a Thembo with a giant black sword made from the tooth of his frienemy Bob.
Bob is a vegan elder Dragon Elmore was hired to slay when a banker framed the dragon to drive demand for insurance and private protection.

Haven't done as many #TTRPG posts because one of our players has moved, and we're waiting for things to normalize a bit before we start experimenting with a hybrid in-person and telegaming experience.
Our Friday group is looking to start a backup game that I won't be running. I offered, but they wanted to give me a break and another one of our GMs has some systems they want to run. #ThirstySwordLesbians was mentioned but most of us aren't interested.
-
In case I wasn’t clear in my earlier post, I 100% love #ThirstySwordLesbians #TTRPG, and recommend you buy, read, and play it!
-
@GwenTheKween I think the game is pretty good at guiding the MC via the MC chapters, the principles and the MC moves. You can do it!

04 - RPG with great art?
#ThirstySwordLesbians and #YazebasBedAndBreakfast for their celebratory portrayal of non-white and fat characters in particular and for picking the perfect art styles to match each game's themes.
#MaNishtana for art that evokes the historical period and location as well as the religious inspiration (it's a Passover retelling).
Extra love to all non-professional illustrators sticking to their own abilities instead of using generated "art"!

S.W.O.R.D. Pilots From Europa is my system-agnostic setting/scenario inspired by mecha anime such as Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, where the players play as students in a mecha piloting school. 🤖
It is free to download during the first week of launch!
The setting is compatible with Thirsty Sword Lesbians designed by April Kit Walsh and published by @evilhat. #ttrpg #ThirstySwordLesbians

Just posted signups for my Thirsty Sword Lesbians game for this month, "Beware the Ideas of March"!
Pitch: Spring has sprung, and no one wants to be cooped up inside—including idle thoughts and random ideas. Imaginations are running wild, creating chaos and spilling secrets. Will you be able to get your thoughts under control?

Despite being delayed by a week due to a snowstorm, the first Thirsty Third Thursday was a rousing success. Our lesbians broke a fae time loop by helping a shy witch confess to her fairy crush over a sword duel, riding a giant leopard and speedrunning an enemies-to-lovers arc in the process!

January's adventure: **New Year's Bae**
"Minutes to midnight at the New Year’s Eve Gala; the energy is electric, outfits are dazzling, and lipstick is fresh for countdown kisses. But when the clock strikes midnight, time rewinds and the Gala begins anew. Can you break this mysterious time loop and finally ring in the New Year with your sweetheart?"#ttrpg #ttrpgs #ThirstySwordLesbians #PoweredByLesbians #TSL

In 2024 I'm running monthly Thirsty Sword Lesbians one-shots (Thirsty Third Thursdays). Since I'm doing the prep anyway, I've been thinking about releasing a set of 12 month-specific adventures. Would people be interested in something like that?
So far the name that's stuck in my head is "Cheers, M'Dears: A Year of Queers"
Boosts and other name suggestions appreciated 😆

One of the best lessons I've learned from running #ThirstySwordLesbians is putting the relationship between the PCs first. It has helped my style immensely, even with #D&D5e.

Big Bad Con is just a week away, so I want to share a bit more about my new Thirsty Sword Lesbians playbook, The Little Red!
This year will be my first time back to BigBad since the pandemic; to celebrate, I wanted to make a playbook inspired by one of my favorite BigBad things: Big Bad World.
