  6. I was testing for but to view content I was asked to accept the Reddit TOS. F*ck that shit. It claims that basically you cannot modify or create derivative works from the "content" (that is, the content that the users create or share) without Reddit's permission and if you're a mod they can ban you without any reason, simply because they can. So I deleted that app and I'm not planning to enter Reddit from my phone or tablet anymore.

  7. So far #jerboa as been solid.

Some reddit apps might convert to #lemmy and other reddit alternatives, #RedReader comes to mind and I hope #infinity will follow as well.

This #redditmigration is really a follow up to the twitter exodus we had a couple of months back and it's a good thing.

So to all new here, welcome to the fediverse.

It's okay to feel lost, give up and come back later. Things are moving in the right direction and I'm stocked !

If you ever need help, hit me up. Whatever I don't know we'll learn together.

  10. Great news for #reddit users (especially those with low vision)!

As most people know, new restrictions on use of the reddit API are forcing most 3rd-party apps to shut down. However, the #FOSS app #RedReader has been granted an exemption for non-commercial #accessibility focused apps. This is because lots of folks have put lots of effort into making RedReader work with screen readers.

  15. @frumble #Infinity, #Stealth und #RedReader sind ziemlich gut, aber werden vermutlich alle sterben, wenn #Reddit den aktuellen API-Plan weiter verfolgt.

  20. #reddit kicking off third party apps

I would say to monetize their audience , they need to funnel users. And while having 3rd party access let them grow, now they think it's a blocker for monetization. Instagram, facebook, youtube, twitter, etc... enforce a client where ads can be displayed without user choice.

  24. I've been using #Reddit for over a decade now. The vast majority of the time I've spent on Reddit has been through #RedReader, a free and open source Android app.

Now Reddit is planning on charging third party apps for API access. The developer of RedReader has estimated that it would cost them around $1 million per year for access, while having never once charged for the app.

Once again, greed ruins something good.

  32. So it seems Reddit is trying to have the same bullshit approach to its API like Twitter. #RedReader is the only reason I even read #Reddit at all.

  37. So on Redreader, if you go to menu > settings > behavior, you can have a tap on a comment open theactions menu. And in appearance, which I've always associated with cosmetic things, you can remove some of the buttons and stuff. Like seriously I think #Redreader is the best Reddit client on any platform. The customizations afforded to native Android apps over iOS ones is just plain great!

  39. Nutzt ihr #slide oder #redreader aus dem #fdroid Store?
Oder ist am Ende kein redditor hier unterwegs?

  40. I just got #RedReader earlier today to (finally) replace the mobile #Reddit client. It seems pretty lightweight, I haven't had a crash yet, and the UI is very uncluttered. So it solves pretty much all of my grievances I had with the official app.

If you use Reddit I recommend checking it out github.com/QuantumBadger/RedRe
