When: The last time Reddit will ever boycott any decision I think. Now that mobile api is costing premium instead of fully free.
Why: lucky chance, qas exploring options and found Reddit post about Mastodon.
Whatade me stay: After intial looking at tags like #reddit #redditmigration and such , decided that learn about Fediverse. Joined several different instances (rip Kbin, I should have switched to Mbin) Misskey, peertube, and few more. Then of course all different interesting discussions that I see there and here.

So my only unfulfilled personal need from Fedi is having same as Reddit featuring subreddit for any game to find discussions, tips and tricks. Otherwise I enjoy my stay from political news/discussions , personal stories and motivational ones. Sometimes even critical or even harassment that people experience on Fedi. Lots of topics that would rarely brush hot and trending on Reddit before vanishing from people's feeds.

Just installed the Voyager client for #lemmy I expect to see a huge #redditmigration if popular subreddits like r/politics and r/technology are put behind paywalls.

@royal ever since I saw the #Twittermigration in 2022 I've been saing Friendica needs to prepare for an inevitable #FacebookMigration when Zuck finally does enough to tick people off and later the #redditMigration only further cemented that. But the current Friendica infrastructure (such as the number of well maintained servers) is not even close to being able to support even a minimal migration effect from the world's largest social media platform.

@ecksearoh Unfortunately, I am afraid, the #RedditMigration just didn’t happen. Still, if I need information about even very computer-centric themes (e.g., /r/Debian) I go to Reddit, not to https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected] which is more or less dead.

It is still early enough in the #redditmigration that #lemmy or #kbin can easily be replaced if something superior comes along. So if #piefed or #sublinks can develop their consumer facing products better and faster then they will inevitably get the community support. And since sublinks uses the existing Lemmy API it might have the best chance to do so.

You never know, the current Lemmy devs might be pushed aside tomorrow, anything could happen.

It is still early enough in the #redditmigration that #lemmy or #kbin can easily be replaced if something superior comes along. Wow #Fediverse, thanks for the help! I am genuinely surprised at how close the results were. It looks like the recommendation is to try out the #Threadiverse (#Kbin and / or #Lemmy) first - but only by 1.8% over #Peertube! Y'all must know that I've been getting frustrated with #Reddit lately. I also appreciate the recommendations for other things to explore.

Now the question is Kbin or Lemmy? Or both? (any thoughts?)

Anyone with a reddit account can go to https://portal.alien.top to claim their account at the alien.top #lemmy instance, and when they do so it gives you a list of your current reddit subscriptions and recommends the corresponding lemmy community.

The import file relies on the List import feature recently added to Mastodon. I have noticed the list import results in a few accounts sometimes ending up in their separate list by the same name so you may have to fix that manually afterwards if this happens on your instance. If many people are on an older Mastodon version and want it I can also post a follows file that will work for those.

Import instructions:
1. Sign into your instance on the web
2. go to settings (Gear icon)
3. Choose Import and Export -> Import
4. For import type choose "Lists" (could also be "Translation missing: en.imports.types.lists" if there is an issue with the localization).
5. Select "merge" to only add to your current follows/lists so nothing you have gets deleted
6. Browse for CSV file and start import
