  1. Day 1 of daily driving my #pixel 3a with #postmarketos #sxmo on my trip

I'm not sure how I'm going to document all this... but I'm planning on using #puremaps (#osmin as back up) otherwise using a bunch of #tui apps. I wish I had tethering workinf but I think I have everthing "working"

  6. @chfkch @organicmaps There is not, which is one of the reasons that caused me to lose interest in packaging it for #postmarketOS entirely.

I now use #osmin instead, I think it's a great application and I recommend trying it out.

  11. @psyclist
we only use #brouter to create the track, then importing it into #organicmaps or #osmin. we cycled westafrica with 50°C (see video) without ever having overheating issues... i would never take a separate gps device with me, but everyone packs different (still carrying a #linuxphone on me 🤣)

  16. @poVoq @lgsp Honestly personally I'm more of a fan of #osmin. It doesn't require a separate app to download the maps for example, which honestly is just weird about PureMaps 😅

  25. By now I've been home for a while, but last thoughts: Sort out call and random reboot issues, and the #pinephonepro is ready to use on the road. #gps and navigation with #osmin works well, the fully fledged firefox browser gets you around many "please use the app" moments, and even cameras work well enough on #pmos for quick snapshots to send to friends.

It works: A 3270km motorcycle trip solo with only #Linux in your pocket.

  30. Further thoughts on traveling on a motorbike with the #pinephonepro: I would feel better (doing very isolated gravel roads) if telephony would work. Also, the lackluster battery managment is frustrating. Random reboots and slow charging get on your nerves if you depend on a phone.

For #osmin, somehow the map presentation isn't quite as intuitive as #osmand. What would need to be better? I have no idea...

Now at 1700km and still going!

  31. What I've noticed with #osmin, is that navigation in landscape mode is weird, as the screen has navigations instructions on top, and the map on the bottom. I think a left/right division would help, or replacing the black bar across the whole screen with something akin to osmands implementation.

And another issue: Searching for nearby places opens them in a new map window, an option to just show all places on the map would be great! As well as a larger radius than 15km...

    #pinephonepro #pmos

  32. Currently navigating a motorcycle tour just on the #pinephonepro. #osmin works very well, although it deleted my precreated track? Weird, but probably happened during the update I did. And the screen isn't bright enough for navigating in the sun. But charging off the bike works, so no battery issues! Running #pmos edge, 600km completed so far.

  33. @silmathoron @organicmaps I was excited for OrganicMaps till I found out the desktop version (and thus the Linux mobile version) is quite a lot different from the Android version. Now I'm more excited for #osmin personally, which is the same no matter where it's ran
