Estas fiestas hemos tenido update de las #Pokeball y el proyecto molde.

Resumen: estamos MUY cerca pero hay fallos gordos. Se ve increíble, con mucho brillo y eso que no las he pulido. Pero las burbujas me están amargando. Los bordes están fatal.

Pero bueno, ya casi está, se vienen prontito!

Making a silicone mold for a project today. If this works I need to make one about 25 centimeters square. (Though I’m pretty sure this may need some tweaking.) This one is like 10cm square.

Yea I like acrylic better than wood for thermoform. Bucks just pops out like I had draft angles. That’s good. Bad is I need to add magnet holes to larger pieces. My NC states float a bit under the vibration of the vacuum. SC did fine.

I found a mold from an old sculpture I made decades ago. It looks like it has a tear in it, but I *think* I can patch it long enough to get a casting off of it.

I scrounged up some hydrocal, and I'm about to either make a mess, or a bit of nostalgia. :)

Primera lección aprendida sobre los moldes de silicona que posteé el otro día. Si la pieza a clonar no está brillante, la pieza clonada en resina tampoco va a salir.

Al final, lo que hice fue modelarlo, imprimirlo en 3D y lijarla bien hasta que esté lisa. Pero estaba mate. Parece que tendré que darla un barniz y pulir un poco para después hacer un molde nuevo.

I chunk it up, melt it slowly (warm mode for 30 mins) and then pour it into a cylinder or flat mold. As soon as it cools you're ready to sculpt!

Demolding a 2x MOTU-style torso mold. Went from a plain 2 part mold to a “sock” style, to a 2 part with a sleeve and a plaster shell. It’s a lot of work but I’m happy with the results. Masto doesn’t seem to host video, so here’s a YouTube link (it’s short, about 30 seconds!). ✌🏽👀
