I called into TkMaxx/Home Sense lunchtime in #MerthyrTydfil to avoid the rain and was confronted with this enormous #pumpkin. This could be yours for two hundred and ninety-nine of your whole pounds and ninety - nine of your pennies.
It was rather spectacular.
And @druid, no, I didn't buy it.🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

Newly-recruited Reform councillor under fire after voicemail message branded racist
A newly-recruited Reform councillor is under fire for comments made about the Pakistani community in a voicemail left to a journalist.
On Wednesday 18 June, Councillor Andrew Barry, who is a Reform councillor for Merthyr Tydfil Council, left a voicemail seemingly in error to an ITV Wales journalist.
In it, he is having a conversation with an unknown second person about the benefits system and housing. He goes on to say: “They’re putting the immigrants in the HMOs. They’re everywhere. The problem we’ve got, no one’s interested… (Inaudible)

I should have known more about the history of the #SinclairC5 and how it’s associated with the #MerthyrTydfil Hoover factory, but it still caught me by surprise to see a specimen in a castle in #Wales.

The community project "Valleys Re-Told" currently run by Museum Wales uses art to discover and share community knowledge about their own history and heritage.
One of the activities they have been undertaking in #MerthyrTydfil was with the Dowlais Visual Arts Group. The members created new collages using Heinz Koppel's fantastic (and quite frankly ENORMOUS) #painting 'Merthyr Blues' which he produced in 1955.
Words cannot tell how delighted I am to see more and more people discover this magnificent piece of #VisualArt produced by a Jewish German refugee from Nazi persecution in his new adopted country, #Wales.
Back in 2015, I was extremely lucky to loan the painting from NMW for a special exhibition in Swansea after it had been in storage for decades (http://eurovisions.bangor.ac.uk/exile-and-immigration.php.en). I sincerely hope that the work of Valleys Re-Told will bring more people to Koppel's body of work.
