I'm using #Mautrix to bridge family #Whatsapp chat groups to my #Matrix instance.
I noticed that I'm missing a few weeks of messages. I checked the logs and found an error message.
A quick web search later I found a FAQ entry which contains the error message verbatim, what it means, why it happens and how to fix it.
Small config edit later and I can receive messages again.
This is how documentation should be!

Does anyone here use mautrix-discord to bridge entire discord guilds? If so, is it possible to make them public somehow? Inviting every individual user to every room is tedious and I've tried everything at this point.

seit ~2016 nutze ich #matrixchat (vector/riot/ #element, #fluffychat , #schildichat , #synapse , #mautrix ) und bin für mich froh drum.
aber was in den 9 jahren konsequent blieb: "normale" user wandten sich ab, weil IMMER WIEDER funktionierendes tooling alle paar monate für neue funktionen kaputt gemacht wurde.
bild kann nicht geladen werden;
schlüssel nicht verfügbar;
app/server/raum/welt nicht kompatibel;matrix ist so grossartig und fährt dennoch 3x im jahr gegen den baum. 😭

- ervery once in a while a captcha needs to be resolved (e.g. when adding a new contact, not all the time)(*) smartphone, which sits in a drawer all the time. switch on only when captcha or so needed.

I'm using #mautrix #telegram #bridge to bridge Telegram messages to my #matrix instance, and for a long time, I experienced issues with sending pictures...
Finally got time to dig in, and found this issue from 2020...

The fact that #mautrix bridges work this good is insane. I ran into my first disconnect in 6 months on the mautrix/whatsapp bridge. I got a proper error message, logged back in and my stuff works again.
I dont think people who can operate a matrix server have any trouble running a mautrix bridge.
There are also bridges for discord, facebook messenger, instagram, signal, telegram and others.

Thinking about dropping Facebook - but for practical reasons I would still need to use Messenger.
Fine - I'll just bridge that into my #Matrix server with one of the excellent #Mautrix bridges.

... right. I'm using #Dendrite, which is completely unsupported nowadays. No migration path to any other Matrix servers exist, which means all the users would need to manually be recreated and lose everything and yeah not happening.
@element really need to rethink how they're spending resources here. They're going to lose evangelists like this.

The "someone has logged in to your Facebook" + security checkup + "no changes performed" might have come from the Facebook<->Matrix bridge I set up once, didn't work and forgot about...

I am once again signalling the #Matrix hashtag to ask yet more stupid questions. This time it's about #mautrix
#Homeserver up and running, cool. mautrix-discord can double-puppet and relay, cool. Only one problem. These relayed posts are coming from the same #Element account - you can discern this is the same person on Element, but on the #Discord side, it's impossible to tell if this is one person, or two different people.
Can the bot be configured to make impersonation a little less easy?

En principe ça peut marcher avec n'importe quel bridge qui supporte de relayer les messages d'utilisateur.ices Matrix qui n'ont pas leur propre compte Signal, WhatsApp. En pratique ça dépend du #bridge #matrix que tu installes avec, nous on utilise #mautrix en relay-mode https://docs.mau.fi/bridges/general/relay-mode.html#Signal ça marche du tonnerre, #WhatsApp avec quelques précautions, et on est en phase beta avec #Telegram pour lequel les sujets "topics" sont mal supportés dans un groupe.

Allerdings wegen dem Klassenchat vom Großen hab ich jetzt doch mal halb nachgegeben: Eigener #Matrix Server mit #Mautrix-WA-Bridge. WA selbst wahlweise auf nem virtuellen oder ausrangierten Telefon (letzteres im Gastnetz). Nicht das gelbe vom Ei aber hoffentlich werden so nicht all zu viele Metadaten mitgesammelt…
Für alles andere ist WA weiterhin Tabu. -
After an upgrade, my #mautrix @signalapp bridge to @matrix stopped working... Word to the wise: version 4.99 equals version 5.0 so users will have to re-link their signal... and we're finally can stop using the outdated signald (daemon) (change log: https://github.com/mautrix/signal/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md )

Finally got #mautrix #telegram bridging work under #synapse. Turns out I somehow managed to get the telegrambot user stuck in a “half-created” state, and needed to
delete from profiles where user_id='telegrambot'; delete from users where name='@telegrambot:marussy.com';to make it register properly again. That wasn’t intuitive at all. :blobfoxshocked:

Lancement de la passerelle entre la messagerie instantanée #matrix chat.sans-nuage.fr et whatsApp en beta.
C'est notre tentative pour aider les groupes #whatsapp à migrer vers matrix.
Objectif : que les premières personnes à migrer ne se retrouvent pas seules à leurs arrivées sur #matrix .
Pour faire ça on utilise une vm #lineageos x86, whatsapp web, le paquet #mautrix de #yunohost, et #arn_messager un bot de notre conception pour la mise en relation.
