⚠️ Possible security issue with MarkText !

I noticed that the Flatpak version of MarkText, my favorite Markdown editor, has been updated. But the latest update to the GitHub repository is from 2022, and it looks like unnecessary permissions have been added to the new #Flatpak package.

A potential malicious supply chain compromise has been reported.

Esto es un sinvivir. Veo que se ha actualizado el flatpak de MarkText, mi editor markdown favorito. Pero la última actualización del repositorio de github es de 2022 y parece que en el nuevo empaquetado de flatpak se han añadido permisos innecesarios.

Leo en el comentarios de github que se ha denunciado una posible adquisición maliciosa de la cadena de suministro.

Enhancing My Resume with AI: A Journey with Microsoft Copilot

A few days ago a friend sent me a message about an opportunity to work as a Maker Space coach at a local university. After discussing the opportunity with my wife she suggested I apply. I completed the online application and then toward the end of the process i needed to submit a resume. There used to be a way to use your Linkedin profile to generate a resume. They don’t offer that service anymore. I am a Canva subscriber and there is an appllication that is supposed to work but alas it wasn’t working tonight. I asked ChatGPT to create a resume with the link to my LinkedIn profile. ChatGPT won’t perform this. That’s when I tried Microsoft Copilot.

I asked Copilot if it could help me create a resume. It suggested that I drag and drop my resume into the conversation space. I searched my drive and found a resume I had written seven years ago for a graduate school application. It was a PDF. Copilot would not work with the PDF but suggested that I could use a JPG or PNG. I opened the resume document and took a screen picture of it and saved the file as PNG. Then I uploaded it to Copilot. I just a few seconds Copilot read my resume and printed it out on the display. Using Copilot I instructed it to add the new additions and corrections to my resume and it did a wonderful job of that. It was incredibly easy.

Copilot provides all of it’s output in Markdown. I decided to convert the Markdown to PDF so I copied and pasted the output into my favorite MarkText which is my favorite Markdown editor, saved the file and then exported it to a PDF. I uploaded the PDF with my application and submitted it. If you find yourself in a situation like I did tonight I suggest you try using Microsoft Copilot and open source tools like Screenshot on Linux Mint and Marktext

There have been some weird bugs in #KDEPlasma 6, most of them harmless, some annoying, but this one is funny.

While playing music in #Spotify, for some reason certain apps which has no (possibility of) sound playing showed the "audio playing" icon on the app icon in the dock/panel.

In my screenshot - the affected apps (other than Spotify) were #Signal and #MarkText (#Firefox actually had audio playing, so not affected by the bug). Clueless why this is even happening lol.

Update: This bug isn't exclusive to Spotify btw, for example, even #Discord audio would make #KDE Plasma think apps like Signal and #Joplin have audio playing too (when they don't).

My only observation is those affecting, and affected, are all #X11 apps - tho it doesn't affect absolutely all X11 apps that are currently running such as #WhatsApp, #VSCode, and #Notable (not sure if there's a trend there to identify what's the cause).

I hope this is a known bug cos as with most bugs I encounter, I have no idea how to report any useful information that is #GitHub or #GitLab "worthy" iykwim.

@Vorinstanz @innesiv #ObsidianMD scheint grad sehr im Kommen zu sein. Ich höre sehr viel gutes davon (aber auch von @zettlr). Allerdings ist mir noch nicht ganz klar geworden, was der Vorteil gegenüber simpleren Markdown Editoren ist. Ich verwende #MarkText, lasse mich aber gerne bekehren.

@ojala I find #markdown with #latex support and instant rendering a pretty much good user experience. I use #MarkText editor.

I tried TeXmacs which was supposed to be a replacement to LaTeX but it didn’t stick. You have to remember a lot of hot keys to get a good #UX from TeXmacs.

Since I'm on a #FOSS instance, I thought I'll share the top 5 #foss tools I use & recommend:

1. #JuliaLang:For Computational Modeling & Data Science

2. #ExcaliDraw: For Digital Whiteboarding

3. #MarkText: WYSIWYG Markdown Editor
