  1. After a week-long vendor conference that had me away from home and surrounded by people most of the time, the first thing I wanted to do when I got back was go on a solo hike. So I did.

    4.1 km in just under an hour is a typical pace for me. I also finally found the entrance I couldn’t locate last time, which was good.

  3. I might have found a new running trail, if I wanted to pick that up again. I don’t like running around my neighborhood for several reasons, but I did walk a new trail today.

    Most of the trail was completely level and barely rocky in one or two spots. I think it would work really well for running.

    Only one part of the trail had a big elevation change since this trail goes around some human-made ponds, but those were short hills.

  4. I need to go on weekday hikes more often. Up here in NH, we've had 12 weekends straight of rain so I took advantage of today's nice weather to get out as soon as I finished work today. I found a trail that was only 20 minutes away from my place and as an added bonus, I had the trail all to myself.

  5. Oh, hey. I’ve hit 2,750 rings closed on my Apple Watch. Some days were *definitely* more active than others, but I work a desk job so making sure I move every day is important to me.

    I also miss running, just a little bit. Maybe my next home will be more running friendly.

    I work a desk job which is great if you want to sit in the same place all day, but that's not the most healthy. The Apple Watch fits in well to nudge me when I need to stand and keep me moving.

  7. Just finished my April activity challenge on my Apple Watch. This month’s challenge, which I think I had before, was to double my exercise ring 7 times. I usually leave it at 30 minutes so this one wasn’t too hard, and moving is good! Between walking and Pilates, I usually get around 60 minutes of moving a day.

  8. My Apple Watch gave me a move goal of 585 active calories per day, for 14 days straight, to get my March 2024 award. Well, two weeks in to March, I did it!

    I’ve been moving a lot more since the end of January, and it’s been good for me.

  9. Oh that was fun! I did a Pilates HIIT workout and just so happen to beat my calorie record (for now) on that workout on my Apple Watch. It probably helped that the workout was 35ish minutes long, too.

  10. Had an active Sunday! I had church all morning running the live stream, got out for a walk, and finally some Pilates. I set a goal of 900 move calories and 60 exercise minutes, then I got it!

    I’m also 2 days away from my monthly goal which was to move 585 calories for 14 days. So far, I’m 10 for 14.

  11. Set an ambitious move and exercise goal today, and I did it! 750 move cal and 60 minutes of exercise (split between walking & pilates).

    I picked up Pilates about a month ago when it was really cold in NH and I didn’t feel like going outside. The exercise sessions go by pretty quickly since I find them enjoyable.

    This also helps when it’s 20° F or stormy outside and I don’t feel like going outside at all.

    I’m finally feeling better from whatever afflicted me on Friday and Saturday, which might have been food poisoning. That wasn’t fun.

  15. Took advantage of the relatively cold weather today and got out to run 5k! It was 60° and cloudy.

    My time was 30:39, which is pretty good for my first 5k in several weeks. Overall running pace was 6:07/km. Felt good to go the full distance again.

  16. I’m liking the 25 minute runs and today’s run was slightly longer than my last one. I ran 4.06 km in 25 minutes, for a nice pace of 6:10/km.

    I definitely turned up the music and that’s probably why I went a little bit faster. I play my playlist on shuffle every time - so the order is random.

  17. Got out for a short run today before Hurricane Lee swings by the coastline tomorrow. Looks like we might get wind gusts up to 40 MPH so tomorrow wouldn’t be a good day for running.

    I haven’t been out as often so I’m doing 20 minute runs to keep with it, and I’m happy with today’s pace! I ran 3.21 km in 20:00.

    Weather: think again!

    Had a bit of rain today on my 5k run, which could have been a lot worse, if the cell was only a few miles north. When I left, there was nothing on the radar at all. 20 minutes later, rain.

    Ended up with a 5k time of 31:08, which i will take.

  22. Kinda liking my short runs on Mondays thing. I ran 2.52km in 15:08 today for a pretty good pace of 5:59/km. Might try for a 3 or 3.5km route next Monday, if I can plan a less hilly route. I’ll still do two 5k’s later this week.

  23. Had a good run today! Ran 5k in just over 30 minutes, with a time of 30:08. My AirPods Pro and my watch were having a bit of a disagreement at the start of my run so I was missing music. But once I got that fixed, the rest of the run was good.

  24. Pretty sure this is my fastest 5k time in 2023! I ran with a time of 29:50 and average pace of 5:58/km along my usual route. Nearly a minute or so off my fastest run so far this year.

    I did a 2.5km run on Monday because that was all I had the energy for and maybe that easier run helped? That’s the only thing that was really different this time.

    I talked with a gentleman in his 70s just returning to skiing after a hip replacement. His surgery was on Dec. 13!!! I often hear inspirational stories riding the lift but this stands out. #JustKeepMoving

  38. Another #walkofshame back home after I strained my calf #running again. This is the second strain on this same calf in short order. I started to notice slight discomfort on my interval and I had just decided to cut it short before it stopped me.

    I hope I've learned my lesson. I'll set my #ego aside, let it heal, rework my #training plan and ease back into things more slowly. I thought it was fine ... until it wasn't.
