A few days of rain beginning this morning, so I headed out for a quick Mt Bike ride.

Our last below freezing morning? Didn't realize it was going to be that cold and left bedroom window open all night. Crisp!

Since the rain just switched to snow here's something green to chase it away.

56° (13C) at 4am when I got up (time is shifting the wrong way) with a warm, maybe 74° (23C) day then thunderstorms.

Given the snowy cold nature of today, I dug into photos from a ride last May for a reminder of what's to come.

53° (12C) with thin clouds and light breeze. Warm enough to get the family out on some walks today.

Yesterday morning's ice. A toasty 30° (-1C) this morning, which gave us bird dish slush instead. 50's the next two days will be a nice change.

30° (-1C) and a skiff of snow this morning. For a little perspective here is what March 23rd looked like two years ago.

Pretty sure if I put my recycling bin out tonight, it’s going to be gone by tomorrow because of the wind.

Not only did I drive with the windows open today, I have the windows open at home to let some fresh air in.
Today’s high got up to 49° F and it’s so nice outside, I didn’t even need a jacket when grocery shopping.

Today marks the first frozen precipitation I've seen in NH this season - either snow or graupel.
At least we're getting something for how cold it is; today's high is in the mid 30's.

With today’s hike, I think I’ve done all but one of the SELT NH trails! The weather warmed up to the mid 60’s and I took lots of photos, of course. Here are four I liked.
I think the second one is funny because there’s a designated lookout spot for the river! With trees blocking the whole view.
I also like the third one since it’s a small wooden bridge that’s very windy.

Right now, the wind coming from the mountains is nice and cool. #MountWashingtonObservatory is reporting temps of 47°F (8.33°C) with 100mph winds and gusts of 120mph (not quite that windy here -- gusts of about 20-25mph). I'm so glad I got that window replaced last year. Now there's a nice cross-breeze, and the upstairs is actually cooler than the downstairs today. A nice respite before the heat returns...

I need to go on weekday hikes more often. Up here in NH, we've had 12 weekends straight of rain so I took advantage of today's nice weather to get out as soon as I finished work today. I found a trail that was only 20 minutes away from my place and as an added bonus, I had the trail all to myself.

Yesterday was my first flight in a small aircraft into IMC (passenger). I can see (lol) how a VFR pilot can become instantly spatially disoriented. If I weren't looking at the artificial horizon or turn coordinator, I would swear that we were in level flight. And vice versa. Add in the cognitive load of communicating with the tower, being in an unfamiliar situation, and other possible exacerbating factors (low fuel, lost, resignation mindset), one could very well be fucked.
Also getting yawed and dropped doesn't help matters.
Otherwise it was an entertaining flight.

Vermont has some strong storms rolling through and it looks like they're pushing towards the NH border.
I don't think I'll get much where I am, but we'll see how it shakes out.

My weather report, a town in southern-ish #Vermont along the eastern border — NOAA forecast Discussion and Hazardous Weather Outlook is pretty apocalyptical between ice and wind. If I look at the same for the town just across the river/border, in #NH, it’s No Big Deal. No ice particularly. Each town at the distant border of different NWS offices, Burlington and Gray, ME.
I’m guessing these two towns get about the same weather, in spite of the wildly different forecasts. We’ll see…

Looks like NH is forecasted to get a few rounds of snow in the next week or so. At least we have something to go with all the cold weather!
Seasons like this also make me grateful that I work from home.

Absolutely weird weather system blocking winds off the coast of Maine - at least according to Apple Weather maps. I’m sure this is more of a software glitch, but I am interested to see it so close to home.
There are none of the wind trails in the box, they hit the edge and then proceed to move along the border.
Trails on the east edge are moving out of the area as normal.

Just had the power go out briefly 3x and then come back. Not sure if they’re doing maintenance today or it’s just because of the rain moving through, but I hope it clears up later.
I have a coding interview I’m going to try and I kinda need power for that.
