Accumulated plums - some were okay, many not great. Turning them into jam.
We had a stupendous plum jam from the neighbour's plum trees last summer. This won't likely be a good, but I'm hopeful for something red, tangy and sweet.

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS will no longer ship OpenJDK 19
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Jammy Jellyfish was shipped with OpenJDK 19 as one of the supported Java open-source JDK toolkit. However, what was recently planned today has drawn our attention, and we felt the need to warn users using OpenJDK 19 on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
By October 2025, OpenJDK 19, which was EOL on March 23rd, 2023, will no longer be available on the official repositories for the Jammy Jellyfish release. This means that you will no longer be able to download and install OpenJDK 19. Any Java application should work fine with either OpenJDK 17 or 21, unless issues crop up.
You can take a look at this announcement for more information regarding the OpenJDK 19 sunset on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

... and try to "play" a Yoshimi synth there. It does work, but it's also VERY hard to play! If you approach it like a normal guitar, you'll get wrong or dead notes, and it will be quite imprecise. I'll have to learn how to use it properly, since as you can see in the video it does have interesting possibilities!
Thanks for the new toy, Randy! 🎸

On the Mango Pi Pro, I popped out the sd card running #Ununtu server with #LXDE and put in a different sd card with the “official” #Armbian ISO with #XFCE from the Mango Pi website.
After way too long finagling the keyboard, mouse, and power inputs, I have updated the packages on the OS (#Jammy). Tomorrow I will update to #Noble and go from there.
Also I will test sound output tomorrow as I trim the fat of preinstalled programs/apps. -

@pjakobs I mainly manage different #Perl versions with #asdf (https://asdf-vm.com) to test code that has to run in less upgradeable environments elsewhere. $work, for example, susbscribes to #Canonical's #Ubuntu Pro so we're on Perl v5.34.0 of their 22.04 LTS #Linux distribution (“#Jammy Jellyfish”).
But like @leonerd, personal stuff is on the latest.

The hard life of a derivative distro. During the development cycle of #bookwom python3-xarray suffered of a wrong exposure of its version (the quite old 0.16 instead of the true one).
So, #Debian bullseye and bookworm are ok, but Ubuntu 22.04 LTS #jammy is broken for common use, due to mismatched versioning of a useful numerical package like xarray for Python, whenever checked as a dependency. Just happened here... 😞
Never trust a universe of packages based on unstable stuff. Universe or aur? -
Just upgraded to #LinuxMint 21.1 "Vera", and I LOVE the cursor, which looks like the spaceship from #Asteroids

In case you aren't afraid to #beta test and use #Ubuntu and #obs #obsstudio perhaps give the beta #PPA a try.
Currently available for #JammyJellyfish #Jammy and #KineticKudu #Kinetic.
#Focal / #FocalFossa might follow with beta2 depending on remaining #cmake issues.

That's me 45 welp. 🤪
At this time on my birthday last year I was lying in an MRI scanner waiting to find out if my cancer had spread.
This time I will be lying in a steam room waiting to find out what's for dinner.

I admit it is a mixed bag because even though I like a #Jammy doughnut, I'm not keen on seeing a #Jellyfish at the beach.

I updated my installation of Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 recently. I didn't use the builtin upgrade tool but used a different and in my view simpler method. How did the upgrade process go? Well, almost perfect barring a small glitch. To know about the upgrade route I took and what little glitch I encountered, please read this short blog post,
