I think you're bang on there.

As far as learning Linux... I would recommend just trying it out! Download a live image for #LinuxMint or #Ununtu, install it on a thumbdrive, and run it live. This way you can try it as much as you'd like without committing to installing it.

Get a feel for it, play around, and when you have questions, there is a wealth of support information for the above-mentioned distro.

I'm afraid I'm not aware of any excellent "getting started with Linux" type resources, but maybe the #fedi will have some suggestions?

  2. On the Mango Pi Pro, I popped out the sd card running #Ununtu server with #LXDE and put in a different sd card with the “official” #Armbian ISO with #XFCE from the Mango Pi website.

After way too long finagling the keyboard, mouse, and power inputs, I have updated the packages on the OS (#Jammy). Tomorrow I will update to #Noble and go from there.

Also I will test sound output tomorrow as I trim the fat of preinstalled programs/apps.

  3. My partnet has just replaced her aging laptop with a Surface Pro 7.

That left her laptop asking to be used as an X86/64 Server.

  4. What’s the best looking macos ui like #linux distro out there based on #debian ideally #ununtu variant.

Elementary OS has some promise but what it considers theirs party apps is a shit show.

Zorin looks commercial and potentially outdated packages? Do I just stick with Ubuntu?
