This is an old paper of mine in which I delve into the Buddhist viewpoint on the function(s) of saññā (recognition), which according to the Suttapiṭaka is a particular "moment" or element of the perceptual activity. Here I examine also its dynamic relation with vedanā (sensation) and viññāṇa (consciousness).
