  7. @dangoodin @malwaretech words are turning into math and numbers, file gen is turning into token gen. at this point for me the real uniqueness is the rapid progress but also the implied fact (after enough domain creep) we are on an event horizon and there is a destination where things are going to speed up even more. this outlook used to be seen as fringe, now it is much more anodyne and prosaic #punctuated equilibrium #ij good #elo rankings

  8. #^Mom who suffered mistaken FBI raid WON at the Supreme Court!

The U.S. Supreme Court unanimously held that an Atlanta family’s lawsuit may proceed against an FBI SWAT team that raided their house by mistake.

The Court’s decision explains that the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) allows people to sue the federal government when its agents violate individual rights—intentionally or by accident. Toi Cliatt, Trina Martin, and Trina’s son, Gabe, are represented by the Institute for Justice.

  10. #^Court Kills Speech Ban on Lawyers

Judges from the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee have amended the court’s local rules to remove a provision that prevented attorneys from discussing their cases with the media and the public.

The changes were sparked by a federal lawsuit, filed by the Institute for Justice on behalf of local civil rights attorney Daniel Horwitz in October 2024.

This is a huge win for the First Amendment in Middle Tennessee.

Attorneys have a right to discuss their cases, and the public has a right to know what the government and its contractors are doing wrong.

  11. #^Gov't Surveillance on $200 Cash Transactions

Small businesses subject to new and intrusive financial surveillance that could ruin them are suing to protect their Fourth Amendment rights and the rights of their customers.

Last week, the federal Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) implemented an order requiring certain businesses in targeted ZIP codes to report all cash transactions above $200.

The normal reporting requirement is for cash transactions over $10,000. By dropping that to $200, FinCEN is treating virtually every honest, hardworking person as a potential criminal whose name and financial information will go into a database for criminal investigators to use.

  14. #Israel / "All the Evidence of Hamas Rape on October 7" So Far

Haaretz's Liza Rozovsky attempts to reconstruct sexual violence evidence on October 7th, based on what's known so far to investigators, not avoiding mentioning the falsifications by #ZAKA volunteers, the Israeli government failure to acknowledge the UN special report, and one confession so far from #IJ militant (who's a prisoner of war) Manar Qassem.

[...] "The real problem is the ability to go to trial on the basis of admissible evidence of a sufficient level for a court" to convict, a senior source in the State Prosecutor's Office told Haaretz, with regard to the investigation. "The investigators are leaving no stone unturned in trying to obtain evidence, every day brings new things. The last word has not yet been said."

[...] Thus, with no charges regarding the sexual attacks having yet been presented to the court, Haaretz spoke with dozens of sources who are dealing with the subject, in an effort to map out the evidence, testimonies and other findings that establish that sex crimes were committed, and to understand what material is still missing.

[...] At the conclusion of the UN report, Patten recommended both to the enforcement agencies in Israel and to international bodies "to bring all perpetrators, regardless of rank or affiliation, to justice based on individual, superior and command responsibility," and she urged Israel to sign a cooperation framework with her office in order to improve the mechanisms of justice dealing with sexual violence. "Patten came with clean hands and courage," Ben-Or says. "I think we should extend a hand and grab this help."

[...] The politicians in Israel did exactly the opposite. Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz chose to attack "the silencing of the sex crimes" by the UN precisely after the report was submitted and resonated widely in the world media.

Rozovsky, Liza. "15 witnesses, three confessions, a pattern of naked dead bodies. All the evidence of Hamas rape on October 7." Haaretz, 18 Apr. 2024, haaretz.com/israel-news/2024-0 or archive.ph/6A3fD.
