Died this day: 08/19/1967 (b. 08/16/1884) Hugo Gernsback was an American editor and magazine publisher of Amazing Stories. He is often referred to as "The Father of Science Fiction". In his honor, annual awards presented at the World Science Fiction Convention are named the "Hugos".
