  6. I found this really nice strap for my guitar. It wasn't cheap, (just over $100USD) but it should last forever, AND it's a pretty good color match. It's leather with all brass hardware. The inside is smooth and doesn't grab my shirt like other leather straps with suede interiors do. It's a perfect buy-it-for-life option if you otherwise like the fit & feel of everyday cotton / plastic straps. #StrapLocks coming soon.

  11. Success! I was able to get a hold of a set of Medium length "Ruthenium" aka "Dark Chrome" #StrapLocks S-Locks. #Schaller quit making this color a few years ago. I looked around a few different places and even had an order canceled. I don't get why they quit making this color. A ton of guitars have this kind of hardware finish. Installation pictures coming soon.

  14. @rjblaskiewicz

#GuitarTech here. It wouldn't cause damage but you'll need a setup, adjustment, and custom string gauge to get that to play properly. Let me know if you need since advice on anything.

  19. @eyesquash

#GuitarTech here. That's a steel string guitar. Go ahead and put some metal on there.

"Steel Reinforced" means there is a steel rod in the neck the same way a truss rod would be placed, except it isn't adjustable. Traditionally, guitars wouldn't have any reinforcement, and this was made around the time where that was a new feature.

  21. @danfairs #GuitarTech here. Yeah poor QC is pretty normal for Fender. Their quality has been declining steadily for decades. I've worked on a million Fenders of all types and years and I would never buy one for myself. This isn't to criticize anyone who has one, anyone who likes them, or anybody who has one that isn't poorly made (or perhaps theirs has been fixed), but there's so many shortcuts they take in manufacturing and so many QC issues that I wouldn't spend my money on one.

  26. Yesterday was #NewGuitarPickupDay! #Fishman Fluence Modern Stephan Carpenter signatures. I'm typically don't care for "signature" guitar gear for myself, nor do I really like the Deftones, but there's nothing externally indicating that besides the fact that they're glow in the dark!

They sound way better than my Alnico/Alnico experiment. Lots of EMG players will throw an Alnico 85 in the bridge for a different tone, but that trick doesn't work as well here.

  28. I'm a #guitartech, I've worked under many people, worked for Guitar Center, and had my own shop for a time. I still do it on the side these days & I'm always happy to give advice. I've worked on everything with strings that isn't a classical instrument.
    #guitar #bass #classicalguitar #acousticguitar #banjo #mandolin #bouzouki

I #DIY a lot because I often find cookie cutter or off the shelf solutions to be lacking. I'm often seen making or modifying some thing to better fit my use cases.

  32. I bought this guitar back in 2021 and finally got around to doing some work on it. I've had trouble with the pickups ever since it was new, but haven't really played the guitar much, so it sat largely untouched. I've been playing it a lot recently and still have problems so I decided to rewire it to eliminate that as a possible issue. Spoiler: the wiring ain't the issue here. I have yet another defective Fishman pickup.

  36. I’ve never used/played coated guitar strings but am considering it lately. Then I remembered the PFAS issue of coated outdoor gear. Unfortunately the guitar string brands are reserved to provide transparency here…any input is very welcome! #guitarTech ultimate-guitar.com/news/gear/

  52. Guitar resto update. It’s all back together. Hardly any new parts so very little recycling or landfill. Plays really well and sounds quite bright with light strings (it’s going to a learner). Have to give it a few days to settle and then faff with the neck and intonation and it’s done!

    I’ve really enjoyed this. #crafter #guitar #restoration #recyclce #luthier #guitartech
