By way of an overdue #introduction; I'm rather a simple soul, I mainly enjoy tinkering with #computers, strumming #guitars and a wee bit of #spaniel sitting. I'm now taking some tentative first steps into #gardening too, just to fall in with the #retired stereotype I suppose. I'm also reading the #internet and I'm currently about halfway through it. I detest #BigTech, the #algorithm, #AI and #SurveillanceCapitalism. I love the #Fediverse because it reminds me of the olde worlde internet. I try to post/boost a little bit of everything and anything, including #art, #science, #botany, #transport, #animals, #architecture and #humour, without getting too mired in #politics, although it's not easy to avoid politics when you care about #nature and the #environment. I'm happy to interact with everyone/anyone irrespective of creed, colour, nationality or gender/sexual preferences. In the nicest sense of the word, I really don't give a fuck what you are. I consider myself to be a floating voter of centre/left leaning persuasion. I support the notion of managed #degrowth and #social responsibility. J MASCIS + THE FOG
More Light
2025 U.S. Remastered reissueSO FRIGGIN HAPPY that they’ve reissued both of the J + The Fog records.
The remaster on this is INCREDIBLE.
J is one of my all-time (hometown) heroes. If you don’t have J. Mascis on your list of most epic guitar gods ever, then I’m afraid I can’t take your list too seriously.
I also picked up Free So Free as well, and they are both more than welcome editions to my vinyl library.
For me, there’s not a weak moment on More Light. Songs like “Waistin” have a sun-soaked #60s California sound to them.
And of course, like ANY album J is on, MONSTER guitar playing.
Because… J Mascis.I’ll post Free So Free next, but both of these are my two favorite purchases/additions from this year so far.

What followed was a conversation about #music programs being the first to get cut from school budgets. About 150 grant requests every quarter and only 30 getting fulfilled. About kids who might never discover they were meant to play an instrument. About veterans who could find healing through sound but won't get the chance. And about Michelle's own journey—an #opera major whose voice was taken from her by vocal nodules, who had to rebuild her identity, and who never stopped being a musician.

Some of the best conversations at #NAMM happen when you're not looking for them. I noticed a shirt that said "I Support #Musicians" and couldn't help but start talking to Michelle Wolff from the Guitar Center Music Foundation.
What followed was a conversation about #music programs being the first to get cut from school budgets. About 150 grant requests every quarter and only 30 getting fulfilled. About kids who might never discover they were meant to play an instrument. About veterans who could find healing through sound but won't get the chance. And about Michelle's own journey—an #opera major whose voice was taken from her by vocal nodules, who had to rebuild her identity, and who never stopped being a musician.
