  1. Die Schwarze Wolke – Sci Fi Hörspiel – Von Fred Hoyle

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yehYDgyR1y4

  2. A quotation from Fred Hoyle

Space isn’t remote at all. It’s only a hour’s drive away if your car could go straight upwards.

Fred Hoyle (1915-2001) English astronomer, author
Quoted in the London Observer (1979-09-09) “Sayings of the Week”

  3. The winner of the 2025 #KarlSchwarzschild Medal - astronomische-gesellschaft.de/ - Paola Caselli crediting her interest in astronomy to reading at age 13 The Black Cloud by #FredHoyle ... who has been the winner of the very same medal (the highest award by the German astronomy community) 33 years ago. #ag2025goerlitz

  4. I think I just read the most pure science-fiction #scifi book I've ever read: Fifth Planet by Fred and Geoffrey Hoyle. I loved it.

  5. October the First is Too Late, Fred Hoyle.

Never before have I read a novel so weighted by the voice of the author; this is an incredibly imaginative speculative story, and at the same time feels like an insight into his mindset in 1966.

  6. How did the Big Bang get its name?
    Here’s the real story

Astronomer Fred Hoyle supposedly coined the catchy term to ridicule the theory of the Universe’s origins — 75 years on, it’s time to set the record straight.

  7. A for Andromeda is a novelisation, credited to Fred Hoyle and John Elliot, of one of the most famous scifi TV series of all time. Tragically the BBC destroyed the entire series apart from one episode.

The novel is great and makes us realise how tragic the loss of the series was.

An alien girl is created here on Earth. Not exactly an alien invasion story but with affinities to that genre.

  8. I'm a sci-fi fan but my tastes are strictly old school. I don't read anything written since the 90s. And not much written since the 60s, apart from some of the cyberpunk writers.

One of the first sci-fi novels I read was Arthur C. Clarke's The City and the Stars and I still regard it as one of the half dozen best sci-fi novels of all time.

    Some writers I like -
