*Here in the story text, people learn that the Milky Way Galaxy is seething with galactic life, which spreads through galactic climate-change #panspermia #astrobiology
*And they get over that mindblowing cosmic news in about a week, they quickly "strip the raw wonderment" out of it -

"‘Highly Plausible’ Aliens on Europa Are Earthlings’ Descendants, Study Says
A new study suggests that bacteria dispersed through space on dust grains could potentially arrive intact and alive on Jupiter’s moon Europa.
Europa, the ice moon of Jupiter, is considered one of the most promising candidates in the search for extraterrestrial life due to its vast subsurface ocean. But imagine what a trip it would be to not just find aliens on this world, but to learn that they originally hailed from Earth.
That’s the premise of a new study that investigates 'the possibility of dust particles containing living bacteria ejected from Earth reaching Europa and landing on its surface,' according to author Zaza Osmanov of the Free University of Tbilisi.
'Life on Earth originated at least 3.55 billion years ago, which implies that for approximately that long, Earth has been shedding life-bearing particles into surrounding space,' Osmanov said in the study. 'Hence, if favorable conditions exist elsewhere in the Solar System and can be accessed by dust particles, the transport of life from Earth appears plausible and may have been occurring over the course of several billion years.'" -

"Life Finds A Way"
Seems like Earth has been colonising the Solar System long before some technological apes got a notion.
But also, it could go both ways, couldn't it?

If Life Spread Everywhere, Why Didn’t It All Become Human?
Different worlds, different outcomes—how evolution might shape alien life across the universe. Image generated for illustrative purposes.Dear Cherubs, here’s a spicy thought: what if life didn’t start here at all—and even better, what if it didn’t stay the same wherever it landed? Suddenly, humans stop being the default and start looking like just one of many possible outcomes.
Let’s assume panspermia—the idea that life’s building blocks traveled through space—isn’t just sci-fi flirting with science. According to NASA, organic molecules have been found in meteorites, which means the “ingredients” for life are not exactly Earth-exclusive. Fair enough. But ingredients don’t guarantee the same recipe.
SAME DNA, DIFFERENT OUTCOMES
Think of DNA like a universal toolkit. Drop it into wildly different environments, and you won’t get identical results—you’ll get adaptations. Evolution is less about destiny and more about negotiation with the local chaos.
On a low-gravity, high-radiation planet, fragile ecosystems might push species toward intelligence over strength. Enter the so-called Greys: large heads, reduced bodies, optimized for thinking rather than doing. Not because it’s stylish, but because survival demanded it.
Now flip the script. Imagine a dense, predator-heavy world where everything wants to eat you before lunch. That environment doesn’t reward empathy; it rewards dominance. Reptilian-style beings—scaled, muscular, territorial—start to look less like fantasy and more like evolutionary logic doing its thing.
And then there’s the “easy mode” planet. Stable climate, abundant resources, low existential drama. Over time, cooperation beats conflict. You’d expect beings that are more symmetrical, socially attuned, maybe even aesthetically refined—the Nordic archetype. It’s giving “we solved survival early, now let’s optimize society.”
SYSTEMS, NOT INDIVIDUALS
The mantis-type beings push things further. Picture a world where survival depends not on individuals but on coordination—like ecosystems stacked on ecosystems. Evolution there might favor networked intelligence, not personal identity.
Insects on Earth already hint at this. According to National Geographic, social insects like ants and termites operate as superorganisms, where the colony matters more than the individual. Scale that up, add intelligence, and suddenly you get a species that thinks in systems, not selves.
That kind of biology would shape politics too. Not empires, not democracies—more like living networks. Leadership becomes functional, not hierarchical. Efficiency isn’t imposed; it emerges.
And here’s where it gets interesting. As noted by thisclaimer.com, when you look at geopolitics—even on Earth—environment and scarcity shape how societies behave. Expand that idea to entire planets, and alien civilizations stop being random and start being inevitable.
So no,
Alternative interpretations exist, of course. Some argue convergent evolution would produce more human-like forms across the universe. But honestly, that feels a bit self-centered. The universe isn’t obligated to repeat us.

🦠🪐 New #research from Johns Hopkins University suggests that the boundary between #planets might be a lot leakier than we thought.
By sandwiching the hardy bacterium Deinococcus radiodurans between steel plates and shooting them at nearly 500 km/h (~300 mph), scientists demonstrated they can survive 30,000 times atmospheric pressure.

I feel, that being on one the few planets in the Galaxy with bountiful life, we should spread it across a mostly dead Universe. Humanity could find a purpose beyond making a tiny amount of us rich, we could bring Life to the cosmos.

Panspermia theory suggests life originated in space and arrived on Earth via meteorites. New evidence of amino acids in space rocks and organisms surviving space conditions offers new support to this cosmic origin hypothesis.

#ICYMI "The Nature paper (without really mentioning it explicitly) supports the thesis that Mars is a museum for the origin of life..."Intriguing for the Mars-as-a-museum hypothesis, it seems a priori more likely to be Mars → Earth scenario for any potential panspermia, as Mars was a bit ahead, planetary formation wise. If this ended up being true it would mean Mars contains the actual origins of life." https://www.theintrinsicperspective.com/p/we-are-not-low-creatures re: #panspermia et al.

I don't believe that this article has been peer-reviewed yet, but it argues that we cannot exclude the possibility of "directed panspermia" and Earth having been terraformed by another civilization.

I'm glad we're having this conversation now. I believe Humanity could find a purpose beyond mere survival, and that is to bring Life to a mostly dead and empty Universe.
But how dead is that Universe, we'll have to go out there and find out before we starting building biospheres on worlds such as Enceladus.
It's time we had better goals in life than raping this planet for money.#Space #Panspermia #RareEarthHypothesis #Enceladus #LateStageCapitalism

I would argue our purpose as a Species could be a spreading our biosphere (what remains of it) across a mostly dead Universe, where microscopic life is as far as it gets on most worlds, the 'Rare Earth Hypothesis'
Starting with Mars.

Interstellar material has been discovered in our Solar System, yet its origins and details of transport are unknown.
But how much of that #interstellar matter originates in the nearest #star system, the α Centauri triple system?
If α Centauri ejects material similarly to own Solar System, the current number of α Centauri particles larger than 100 m in diameter within the Oort Cloud is a million.
But only one of them can be expected within 10 AU.
