  1. #VolunteersWanted

    Must have;

    * A passion for the fediverse and its community

    * A keen interest in being a software librarian

    * A team spirit and a sense of fun

    * A thirst for adventure, where adventure looks like spelunking through the deep layers of the web, dusting off digital cave paintings

    * A willingness to learn how to use a wiki, and to open and comment on issue discussions. No experience required.

    If you fit most of this description, the fediverse.party needs you!

  2. Canvassing opinions about the future of our curated server list;

    Feel free to share your takes here, especially if you're willing to volunteer to help with curation;

  3. While adding @endurain to the ActivityPub watchlist for fediverse.party, I noticed that @forgejo has added code enabling me to add a fediverse address to a wiki page on @Codeberg, and have it automatically become a link to the profile for that address. Great stuff!

    #HatTip to whoever had that idea and coded it, and also to @smallcircles for tipping me off about Endurain, and supplying the info about on the Delightful list that I was able to draw from for our listing.

    > Is there a website that shows federated projects that people are building?

    There's a few. I'll leave other maintainers to pitch their own, but I'm involved with;

    fediverse.party/en/miscellaneo

    ... which is based on data gathering on this watchlist;

    codeberg.org/fediverse/fedipar

    FYI they both need some major updates, but I was recently shouldertapped to take over as Lead Goose, and we're working on it!

  5. GNU MediaGoblin was founded by @cwebber. Inspired by GNU social's revival of the StatusNet project abandoned by Identi.ca, they developed a vision of enabling federation features between MediaGoblin services, and between those and services running GNU social, GNU FM, etc. To this end, along with Jessica Tallon (@tsyesika), they got involved with the AP standardisation process, which consumed a lot of their time and organising energy.

  6. Is there anyone out there with a passion for surveying and making lists of themed fediverse services? Our list is showing it's age, and could really use a dedicated curator to keep it up-to-date, with support from our team;

    fediverse.party/en/portal/serv

    We aim to list smaller services open to new members, with either a geographical or topic focus. The criteria we use for the services we list can be found here;

  7. 2 more giant leaps for geek, 2 more small steps for fediverse.party. Tonight, I closed a merge request that had been superseded, and merged another one. The feeling of raw power I get when I hit the button to merge, and see the changes hit the site, makes me feel like a wizard! Or maybe a sourcerer ; )

    The change I merged tonight reflects @gotosocial's moving their app development from GritGub to CodeBerg. If they can ...

    giveupgithub.com/

    ... so can you!

  8. 2 giants leaps for this geek, 2 small steps forward for fediverse.party;

    I finishing merging apps from @hazelnoot's list into the main AP server watchlist, complete with links. Still a lot to do there, but that's 1 more milestone passed.

    More exciting, I finally managed to make another change to the site! The second one I've successful done since becoming Lead Goose. I removed Guppe and immers.space, which were abandoned by the maintainers, with no successors for now.

  9. Carved about some time for fediverse.party work tonight. To get started, I commented on some PRs and issue discussions, to make sure both ongoing and drive-by contributors understand the current state of play.

    As I said in my last post asking Ben about Emissary's MondoDB dependency, I've started rebuilding the AP server software watchlist on our wiki;

    codeberg.org/fediverse/fedipar

    ... in preparation for a series of updates to bring the site itself up-to-date.

  10. There have been many experiments with adding simple ActivityPub support to static blogs, enabling authors to publish their blog into the fediverse to be followed and get commented on. Some of these experimenters have documented what they did, and I've started a list of examples here;

    codeberg.org/fediverse/fedipar

    I chucked this together in a hurry, so please prod me about any mistakes, or any additions that could be made to the list.

  11. Fediverse.party is looking for a social blogging platform to highlight. I just posted some musing on possible selection criteria and the pros and cons of various candidates;

    codeberg.org/fediverse/fedipar

    Feedback welcome. Here or there, but if you want your comments to be part of the permanent record of our deliberations on this, better to comment on the issue itself (when @forgefed is ready for primetime you won't have to choose).

  12. Kia ora fedizens, a few months ago I was shoulder-tapped to take on stewardship of fediverse.party. One of a bunch of websites that aim to gather lots of useful info about the fediverse in one place. This is a project I've been a casual contributor to for years, and I really want to see it maintained. So I said yes.

    Speaking of ...

    @laya_wanders
    > fediverse onboarding and different ways people find their way in

    ... I was recently handed the reigns of fediverse.party. The founding goal of the site is to provide a playful, informative one-stop-shop guide to the fediverse. I intend to do a through update of the current site early next year, then start working on a more ambitious upgrade.

Flea Cafe.

    @[email protected] (Тут можно получить поддержку от меня, а ещё я буду делиться с вами материалами.):sparkles::sparkles:
Misskey's
Fediverse.Party

  15. @cashew
    > why is f.p hosted in Russia?

    > Aha, found the relevant discussions

    You've read the threads, but IIRR it was a stopgap, put in place when Feneas collapsed and the party had to move with relatively short notice. We've all been too busy to come up with a more permanent solution, but we're open to offers!

  16. Kia ora koutou, I've had a bit of a health scare;

    strypey.dreamwidth.org/8010.ht

    I'm OK, but I need to take a couple of days off doing anything potentially stressful, like working on anything related to fediverse.party or SocialHub.

    EDIT: Huge thanks to all the medical workers and support staff who helped me last night. See the linked blog post for the story. You folk are legends and this government has betrayed you, along with the rest of us.

  17. As I suspected, my fediverse demographics poll is going to close without enough responses to be even vaguely representative. I'm still curious and I'll run it again sometime with a longer runway.

    I intend to set up a dedicated a new project account for fediverse.party, to replace the Friendica one we lost when the Federated Networks Association folded. Once that account has built up a decent number of follows, it would probably be a better place to post a demographic poll.

  18. @hello there! I am taking on stewardship of the fediverse.party website, and it's associated wiki;

    codeberg.org/fediverse/fedipar

    I'm keen to collaborate with other folks maintaining fediverse guides.

    #FediverseParty

  19. @OhMyGod
    > fediverse.party page misses some of the new platforms/apps on the landing page like castopod, bookwyrm, wordpress, nodebb, mobilizon, flohmarkt we already see in the app-list

    Do you mean some of the projects listed here;

    fediverse.party/en/miscellaneo

    ... are not also on the landing page? That's a design choice. Too many logos would be visually confusing, especially on mobile.

    But feel free to open an issue and we can chat about it;

  20. I'm volunteering to take on stewardship responsibility for fediverse.party. If anyone is keen to get involved, I'd greatly appreciate it. Eg help with bringing the site up-to-date, or refactoring and updating the wiki.

    I intend to do a full stocktake of the project and make sure everything is documented. While I'm doing that, I'll figure out how to edit the site and push to production (ideally without breaking anything), and make a bunch of incremental updates to the listings.

  21. @hopland

    You can repost to mastodon.social instead(as long as you follow rule 6 regarding crediting). Also loops is not yet completely integrated into the fediverse yet so if you want to do the fediverse a favor, we're still here! 🥳 🎉

    Glad you find it useful. I'm just a humble sidekick, doing research and wiki editing. The real hero is our founder and lead site developer @lightone : )

  24. #Fediverse-#Statistik-Sammler fediverse.party

    https://fediverse.party/en/fediverse/

    Das Code-Repository findet sich hier:

    https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fediparty

  25. @jakub @jnv Here you can see a small excerpt of what software (besides Mastodon) is in the #Fediverse. You are connected to all of these.

    I'm replying here from #Friendica, one of the macroblogging services, in the Fediverse, which is also connected to Diaspora. #Firefish is a fork of #Misskey .
    A more complete collection can be found at #FediverseParty: fediverse.party/en/miscellaneo…

  26. Are you excited about the potential of the #fediverse? Do you want to contribute to the social movement that's gardening it, rather than just smelling the flowers and picking the fruit?

    Fediverse.party and Delightful.club are volunteer-run projects that monitor the evolution of fediverse software; what's successfully federating over ActivityPub (and older federation protocols), what's new, what's still being maintained, etc. We can always use more volunteers!
