  1. Wow, what a mountain we had to climb to get this far. We are finally ready for the test ride tomorrow! We had to adjust the brackets that the shocks mount to, replace the LCD readout which our client screwed up to add to our workload, and hard weld the frame to the bike. Then we hooked up the batteries and controllers to test the whole thing and make sure everything worked.

  2. Got the battery box problem sorted out, tacked it to the frame then removed the wheels and hard welded the battery box frame and other elements that I had tack welded previously. After that I cleaned up the welds and I then made a grain-free but gluten-full pizza for the crew's lunch.

A great day of fabrication and welding!

  3. Took it for a test trot. It was awkward moving while having to hold it stooped over. Would have been better to harness up Mateo and have him pull it.

Next we need to hard weld the mounts, drill the holes for the right side shock, and fix a wiring issue that affects the throttle function. It was working fine until it wasn't.

  4. We made the mounts for the wheels and got the componets tack welded to the frame and itself. We also made the mounting points for the shocks from angle iron. #fabrication #fabricating #fabricator #welding #welder

  5. Me in the background with torch in hand, Steve is the cyclops AND the brains behind the build itself. I am only the hands with the occasional good idea.

I really like the tacks that I did on these corner pieces. The layout is very attractive. And they just pop when wire brushed.

  6. Did some practice welding before getting to welding the face joints on the frame. Started by tacking the angle iron to the frame to help stabilize the joints while they are welded. Mitigates the movement of the metal from the heat. Then I tacked the 1" tubing and then did beads all around on both faces. Capped the ends of the long 1x2 with flat bar. Followed up by grinding the welds flush to the tubing. #welding #welder #fabrication #fabricator #beetlebike

  7. Made some more progress today on the frame. Tack welded only this time so that we can easily correct any issues with the frame should they come up.

It's a real challenge to fabricate on OSB. We should be using a proper welding table with a solid flat top to do our fabrication on. However, our budget does not allow for it.

Next we will build the mounts for the rear wheels, but not until Sunday. taking tomorrow off.

  8. Here are some close ups of the tacks and my best weld. Some were butt ugly and I am going back to fix them, but this one 90 came out perfect the first time!

Like everything, it takes time and practice to make perfect. Eventually, I will be able to run a perfect bead every single time.

  9. In addition to being a #ttrpg designer and #gaming #podcast #stream network owner, I’m a semi retired pro #cosplayer! Haven’t done anything since 2020, but hoping to maybe start back up in 2023! Here are some of my favorite #cosplay outfits I’ve made. (If my handle wasn’t enough, can you tell who my favorite character is? 😂) #wonderwoman #bigbarda #comics #costume #design #maker #fabricator
