Hot take: I think there should be presidential discussions rather than presidential debates.

In a debate, the candidates present their ideas and answer questions very superficially, essentially as sound bytes.

I want to see the candidates discuss together, and watch how they collaborate. I want to see them figure things out together, "reaching across the aisle" so to speak. Discussing, not presenting. Because that would be their job, figuring things out.

Vance’s performance would have assuaged detractors’ concerns. He skirted some answers smoothly; articulated his position well.

#Walz didn’t do much wrong; I s’ppose he was safe - kept things factual - answered questions wholesomely. Lacked the WOW factor. Didn’t land punches with his oration & was also a tad shaky in certain instances.

All in all, a great spectacle that surpassed Pence v Harris qualitatively.

I live on Ohio. I have to say that after watching the #VicePresidentialDebate I want to move to Minnesota!

Vance appeared more comfortable and achieved what he set out to do, which was to present a palatable version of Trump for the suburbs. Walz created the moment that people will remember, which was exposing Vance for refusing to admit that Trump lost in 2020. My bet is that people tuned out after 20 minutes. #vicepresidentialdebate

I just watched the #USA #VicePresidentialDebate and I am confused about one thing, throughout the entire debate Vance acted as if V.P. Harris almost had queen-like power to get her agenda in place over the last almost four years. Do Vice Presidents have powers I'm not aware of? She was not President, she certainly was not Congress (half of which is controlled by Republicans), but he acted as though she could have done everything she wants to do already. How, exactly, was she supposed to do that? Did I miss something about the powers of Vice Presidents back when I was in Civics class in High School?
