This was a neatly stacked pyramid of PoW, but when I placed the last piece to finish the pyramid, it fell over. 😅
I'm enjoying this task, aside from how smokey the parts are while welding (as the long tubes are dripping with cutting oil 🙄, but I've got a fresh set of filters on my respirator, so I'm fine). I'm also, evidently, doing these about 5x faster than everyone else doing them. (There's an order for 600...)It's really not a bad way to spend a Friday at the fiat mines.

Wow, what a mountain we had to climb to get this far. We are finally ready for the test ride tomorrow! We had to adjust the brackets that the shocks mount to, replace the LCD readout which our client screwed up to add to our workload, and hard weld the frame to the bike. Then we hooked up the batteries and controllers to test the whole thing and make sure everything worked.

Got the battery box problem sorted out, tacked it to the frame then removed the wheels and hard welded the battery box frame and other elements that I had tack welded previously. After that I cleaned up the welds and I then made a grain-free but gluten-full pizza for the crew's lunch.

We started mocking up the beetle. I dyed and finished the stage.

Took it for a test trot. It was awkward moving while having to hold it stooped over. Would have been better to harness up Mateo and have him pull it.
Next we need to hard weld the mounts, drill the holes for the right side shock, and fix a wiring issue that affects the throttle function. It was working fine until it wasn't.

We made the mounts for the wheels and got the componets tack welded to the frame and itself. We also made the mounting points for the shocks from angle iron. #fabrication #fabricating #fabricator #welding #welder
