Today, an economic blackout is planned. Originated in the US, but anyone can do it I guess. Basically, you're not supposed to buy anything for a day.
My initial feeling towards this action was enthusiastic. I hate buying stuff as a concept, I want a different system then capitalism, where this is mandatory for survival. I don't actually believe much in this action as an efficient way to "disrupt" things, but it could be a cool action "for myself", i. e. to learn a bit about how to live "without money" or lessen my reliance on money.
So I talked about this with my partner and we initially thought we could take it further and just not buy stuff for a whole week (we live together). Because what's the point in a day, you just buy stuff the day before and nothing changes. To do it for a week, you'd have to plan more, it's more of a challenge. And hopefully, you learn something that makes you spend less money in the long run.

For today’s #EconomicBoycott I cancelled my Amazon subscribe&save subscriptions … all of them. Am planning to not renew prime too. Am looking at getting Costco membership as that would at least support a company that is sticking to DEI (hope they still are)

It's not unusual for me to need to stop at Kroger in the early mornings. (I'd rather go to #Aldi, but they only open at 09:00.) I don't go every day.
Despite today's #boycott, Kroger seemed busier than usual for that time of day. I actually had to wait in line at the checkout. I think it's probably #payday for others as well.
Planning the #boycott to fall on a common monthly payday may have been a ***BAD IDEA***™.*** ***

Fortunately, I had 2 large bags of empty 2-liter soft drink plastic bottles to return for 10¢ each. At Kroger, I returned the bottles, then found the right bread & a "good deal" on an single donut à la carte. Using the money earned from the bottle return, ***Kroger*** ***PAID ME 1¢ for the purchase!***

Tomorrow all day (the 28th) there's a "no buying anything except from local small businesses, cash-only" boycott, just as a head's up if you want to participate. This includes stuff like gas, fast food, chains like Walmart, Target, and Amazon, etc.
